Default Help finding a cast a home. Suggestions please??

I have a stray that is between a kitten / cat stage if you know what I
mean. Over the summer I have pretty much socialized him with the idea
of rehoming him before winter but no luck.

The thing is that the local animal rescues say they will take if fixed
and up on shots but when I call them the recording answers and they do
not bother answering e-mails or messages. They say they are full
which they probably are.

I go the the Humane Society of Saginaw County and pretty much the
first words out of their mouth are "Take it to the county shelter".
They are a small 3 people outfit and this time of year pretty much out
of money. The county shelter shelter will hold them for 3 days then
it is ------ The local paper will run a free for free ad for 3 days
but there are SO many kitten available that the older ones usually
din't go. I tryed the ad thing and got no calls.

I do not drive much so I can not run all over the state and most of
the family are not cat people. I am to the point where I am ready to
put the poor guy down myself!!

Any suggestions?!?!?!? Reasonable ones please!!

Thanks. I was wondering if you were making a movie for a moment there.
(;-)) Anyway, outdoor cats can over winter well, with a little help, as
long as they have good shelter and plenty of food. Please don't put the
poor fellow down. I suggest an insulated box of some sort and lined with an
old blanket or some such thing. If the kitty can be fed he will do fine.

Advertise, advertise, advertise. Take a really cute photo and put up
posters with the photo. You've got to make a poster or ad stand out from
all the others.

If you're employed, and your employer is OK with it, send out a notice
at work, or chat in a friendly manner at coffee break about this
gorgeous cat (see this lovely photo?) that really needs a home before
the bad weather hits. If you can afford it, offer to cover some of the
neutering cost. Ask everyone to pass on the message to friends of theirs
who might like cats.

It is really, really difficult sometimes to find homes for cats, but
OTOH, I just adopted a cat because I saw a poster with a really cute
photo and promises of spaying.

Cheryl is correct about advertising. Rates must be cheap in a small
town newspaper. Also, does your local supermarket(s) have a community
bulletin board?

Is there craigslist in your area?

They are free. Post a picture if at ALL possible; it really makes a
difference.

Ask a small 're homing' fee, $20 or so, to keep the pond scum away.

Good luck, and thank your for looking after this little guy

I hope he finds a good home, soon.

I'm facing the same problem.

A friend just sent me this link. Winter care for outside cats.

Thank so much. I never thought of that not really being into 'puter.
I use it for e-mail and news group.

Maybe I will have daughter do it. She is up on all this new stuff.

Thanks again.
