The Herbs and Spices - a tribute
when a being lofez ursef, it duzint matter whutsa name of itsef iz, hoomin,
kitty dog or efin ratty, OEJ "moonglow minnow" wrote in message ... The Herbs and Spices were born on June 2, 2010. Their mama Jana was a part of a rescue where lots of pregnant mamas and mamas with little bitties were taken in to finally be cared for as ratties deserve to be. We brought Jana and her 13 babies home 3 days later to give Mama a forever home and to give the babies their best chance at getting their own forever homes. They were still little pink eeping erasers with legs. The little alien creatures couldn't have been more beautiful. Number 13, a little boy, went to the Bridge before he found a name, before he had colors, before he had fur. He wasn't loved any less. As the remaining 12 grew, they went from little eeping erasers to gaining their colors to gaining their velvety soft baby fur. Before we knew it, they had eyes and ears and personalities. And names. Ginger, Thyme, Myrtle, Sage, Heliotrope, Jasmine, Rosemary, Saffron, Anise, Curry, Dill, and Pepper. Some were so outgoing that they loved to use us as jungle gyms. Some were more shy. Curry loved to sit on his daddy's head. Saffron and Sage stole their mommy's heart. So did Dill and Pepper. The shy ones took a little extra time to warm up, but loved to cuddle and sometimes fell asleep on their people. They were always, always loved. When they were about 3 weeks old, we started to notice that something was wrong. They weren't growing anymore, and some of their tummies were sticking out in ways that just weren't healthy. All the fancy colors and patterns that would make them so easy to find homes for came with a high price. They all had megacolon. Now we knew that their days were numbered far shorter than we anticipated. Still, they were loved dearly, and they were played with, and they got to go pea fishing with their mama. That was the last night that four of them got. On July 2nd, Ginger, Thyme, Myrtle, and Sage were helped to the Bridge. I loved them too much to let them suffer over the weekend. They got a month to live. They are *still* loved. Time was short for their siblings, too. They were lively and beautiful and playful but some were starting to hurt, and it was just the right thing to do to let them all go to the Bridge together. On the 16th, I brought Heliotrope, Jasmine, Rosemary, Saffron, Anise, Curry, Dill, and Pepper to the vet for the last time. They were gently assisted to the Bridge by my wonderful vet. They are still, and will always be loved. I hope that they are sharing that love with all of the babies that went to the Bridge a little too soon. Play hard, angels. -------- Meowmie has too many waddermonsters in her eyes to go on here, but I thinks dees kittens (rattie babies is kittens too) deserve a new Jellicle lyfe too. - Shadow -- minnow ^..^ http://twitter.com/taheenahana http://www.flickr.com/photos/minnow/ |
