Happy Birthday to the Youlet!

Apparently I'm spelling impaired today. It should have been Yowlet.

Oh, we measured him yesterday because I've heard that to find out the
eventual height of someone, you measure them on their 2nd birthday, and
double it. He was 95cm or 3'1-1/2". So he's going to be 190cm tall, or
6'3". Tall, but not ridiculous like his mum or grandad, thankfully.

First, congrats Yowie to you all for arriving at a happy & healthy
2yearold!

The height thing worked out for me: I ended up at exactly double my
2yo measurement at exactly 1.90m or 6'3"!

Warn Yowlet from me (when he's taking it all in) that unless he
develops a "scholarly stoop" on trains, buses, small cars etc. he'll
be spending a lot of time nursing bumps high on his forehead!!

Eh, I know about heights.... I'm 6'1", and my father is (or well, was, when
he was younger and hadn't got arthritis in his back) 6'8". My mother is also
6'1" and my younger sister is 6'2".

Joel, on the other hand, is exactly average: 5'7", but he'll always be short
to me :-)

And even when he's that tall, he will still be known as the Yowlet in
this little corner of usenet. ;o)

I can't believe The Yowlet, my baby, is 2 today. He's no longer a baby, but
very much a little boy, with all the 'boy' traits of liking cars, going
fast enough to scare Mum and make Dad proud on his trike, a penchant for
hitting things with other things, insatiable curiousity, and of course, the
obligatory 'ants in his pants' - he can't stay still for more than a
minute unless of course he's asleep.

Happy Birthday to the Yowlet!

Cary is not into sticking things up his nose. His favourite orifices
(orifii?) are his ears. His favourite thing to stick in them? Kitty kibble!
I still have *no idea* why sticking kitty kibble in one's ears is such a
pleasuable activity, but the number of cat crunchies Joel & I have plucked
from that boys ears is incredible, and I'm always paranoid when we go to the
doctor that the doc will find one we missed!

Cary's other odd little habits a trying pretty much *everything* on as a
hat, and *insisting* on wearing one sock (the preferred foot is random, but
it has to be the foot he's decided on) around the house. Put two socks on
him, and he'll pull one off, take off both socks so he's barefoot and he'll
go find a sock, give it to us, and then climb in our laps and put his
preferred foot in our faces until we get the hint. Try putting it ont he
other foot, and there will be a tanty. He also *must* share his dinner with
all the critters, and has decided that only *he* is allowed to turn lights
on and off in the house. Thankfully, he's taken tot he job with gusto, and
is delighted every time he's asked to flip a light switch for us. Oh, and
he's also decided its *his* job to bring in the garbage wheelie, and he must
be allowed to help bring inthe groceries. Watching a two year old attempt to
drag in a heavy plastic shopping, pulling and tugging with all his might, is
kinda funny, but he gets terribly annoyed if he thinks we've given him a
'play' bag for him to bring in instead. it has to have *real* shopping in
it, and has to be *properly full* rather than just having one light item so
that he can carry it with ease. So, like properly trained Yowlet slaves we
are, every time we go shopping, we have to rearrange the shopping as we are
loading up the car, so there is one bag that, whilst full, is also light
enough for him to pick up.

Oh, we measured him yesterday because I've heard that to find out the
eventual height of someone, you measure them on their 2nd birthday, and

What a cutie! Thank you so much for this delightful update, Vicky.
We are wishing Cary all the very best for his birthday (wow, 2 yo
already!) and for everyone to have a great time at the party,
Polonca and Soncek

Happy birthday to Carey. Soon he will be too big to be yowlet and will
demand to be called his big boy name.

So far, all the birthday means is that he's found toys he hasn't seen
before, and that Mum & Dad are allowing him to have slighly more sugar than
usual int he form of jelly Belly beans. Other than that, he's totally
oblivious to the fuss.

On Sunday, we're being brave and inviting 8 more 2 year olds (give or take)
to a party.... not at our place though, we're not that insance. They've
probaly got them where you are too, but around here, there' sthese 'kiddy
gyms', with ball pits, exotic climbing equipment, mazes, and other 'active'
play things popping up all over the place, and they organise kids parties
for you (yay!). The general idea seems to be to hype them up on sugar and
artifical colours & flavours, then let them loose to burn off all the energy
on their equipment, and let them run / climb / jump / play it out for a few
hours before taking an exhausted (and hopefully sleep) kid home again. Being
inthe same room with more than 1 two year old generally fills me with
horror, but these places are generally good at having a seperate (and sound
proof) parent's area, that serves good coffee & cakes, and has a large
collection of gossipy women's magazines to pass the time. We should survive.

Then, the weekend after that (or maybe the next one again) we'll have a
simple BBQ for family & friends. At this rate, Cary's birthday celebrations
may well extend for the whole month. Now *thats* how to have a birthday!

Yowe

I firmly believe in stretching birthdays out as long as possible :-)

Happy Birthday Cary!!!

Wow. Doesn't time fly? (My baby is now three. And my NEW baby is
twelve weeks already.)

Many happy returns to the Yowlet. And congratulations to his parents
for surviving it.

Expect a huge change in the next year. The difference between two and
two and a half is enormous. But don't worry, because it's all
delightful.

I want to slow down time so I don't miss out on anything!!! They are small
increments, but if I pay attention, there's even a difference from week to
week. They're amazing little creatures. We feel so blessed.

And Frogmella is *THREE*???? My goodness, I remember you worrying about what
wedding dress you were going to wear, and then seeing you & your hubby walk
down the aisle together. Frogmella was a merely a rather large bump. And
she's *THREE* now? And her sister is already 4 months old????? My goodness,
where'd all that time go?

Yowie
