Turkey
I thought you would like this.
We visited our newly married daughter, who was preparing her first Thanksgiving dinner. I noticed the turkey thawing in the kitchen sink with a dish drainer inverted over the bird. I asked why a drainer covered the turkey. Our daughter turned to my wife and said, "Mom, you always did it that way." "Yes," my wife replied, "but you don't have a cat!" ---MIKE--- In the white mountains of New Hampshire 44°15' North Elevation 1580 feet |

In this case, the daughter cut the legs off the turkey before putting it in the roasting pan. The mother asked the same question and got the same response as above. The mother replied, "That was because my roaster was too small for the whole turkey. Yours is large enough." Joy |

Both stories point out the folly of "I do it this way because that's the way we've always done it in our family." Joyce -- A clean house is a sign of a broken computer. |

Joyce I like coming up with new and creative ways to counteract the "way we've always done it" habit. Obviously sometimes there is a method to the madness This reminds me... I wonder whatever happened to my mother's old speckled (grannyware) turkey roasting pan? Hmmmm. Jill |
