They do make Solar Powered things for Bird Baths. No idea about prices or anything, Also, use a
Black water bowl since dark colors get hotter all by themselves in the sun. Might want to check some specialty Gardening Stores that would sell solar power heated birdbaths or something like that Here's one possible thing I found... http://shop.store.yahoo.com/duncraft/unsolsip.html On Wed, 26 Nov 2003 17:48:06 GMT, (Ginger-lyn Summer) wrote: On Tue, 25 Nov 2003 03:15:07 GMT, Mr B wrote: Howdy, We have our stray cats that we take care of and are looking for a way to keep their water bowl from freezing. I'm guessing I could get some sort of thing made for Bird Baths but was wondering if anyone had anything specific they have used. I'm looking for the Cheapest solution I can find. Any suggestions woudl be great. Thanks. I've been reading this thread, but all the suggestions seem to require electricity. I'm in an apartment with no way to do outdoor electric, and I sure can't leave a window open to run a line outside! I feed strays and ferals, and worry about the water freezing in the winter -- I change it several times a day, but there are still times it freezes. Is there anything that is *not* electrical that can help keep the water warm enough to keep it from freezing? Thanks! Ginger-lyn |

Well, just to reply to my own post, I bought a heated water bowl from PetCo ($28 or so). It's huge
(1.5 gallons) but was all they had. I guess it will have to do. I saw those bowls at Petsmart, too; Wal Mart has something similar for about
$20. Christine "Mr B" wrote in message ... Well, just to reply to my own post, I bought a heated water bowl from PetCo ($28 or so). It's huge (1.5 gallons) but was all they had. Couldn't get anything to show up on that link, though :-( I'm on the first floor in a not-so-good neighborhood, so running a plug outside just isn't an option for me. Maybe I can find a solar or battery operated *something* that will work. Thanks. Ginger-lyn |
