Default "Portrait" of Princess and Smidgin - just posted a photo of my painting

I have been taking oil painting lessons for 3 years. My idea when I started
was to have something special to look forward to when I reach retirement and
not become a "couch potato." I soon found that I love painting "right now."
I just finished my first attempt at painting cats. I looked through various
albums posted on these newsgroups, and I found a photo on Megan's site that
I really like. She helped me a lot when I adopted Duffy, so I contacted her
and got her permission to use her photo as a guide.

Result: I have posted a photo of my first cat "portrait" on
alt.binaries.pictures.animals. It is under the title "Princess and Smidgin."
I enjoyed my first effort and thought I would share it with you (and am
cross-posting to the 3 groups I read most often).

Mary, that painting is awesome[1] and so lifelike! Thanks for sharing it.

[1] When I use the word awesome, I'm often reminded of something my dad
said one time and he used the word awful in a way that shocked me because I
had never heard it in that context before. He said the word awful means
"full of awe". In that way, awesome seems that it should mean "some awe".
lol Seriously, though, your painting is beautiful.

Hi, would you be willing to email it to me? I can't access the binaries ng
that you've posted it in, it's blocked by the firewall here at work....if
you could, I'd appreciate it, as I'd LOVE to see it. My mom has been doing a
lot of oil paintings of birds, and I'm getting quite an appreciation for the
art...

Thanks,
Carrie

Sure, I'll be happy to email the photo to you. I'll do it later this
evening. Just remember that I'm an amateur and this is my first attempt at
painting cats.

I'll be glad to ... and also for anyone else who wants it. If others want a
copy, just send email to the address attached to this message (but remember
to "take out the litter" first). I always send low resolution photos by
email. If they are too small, let me know and I'll send the high resolution
copy.

Hi Mary,

I think it's a great picture......I have no abilities for things like that
myself, so, I give major kudos to you for being able to do it.

Beautiful picture Mary, just beautiful...

That's my opinion and I'm stickin' to it!
