OK OK I'll stop. But check out this pic! Wow, maybe she was relagated to
a carrier, but look at the honor guard!

Who knew there were so many pics of India?

She looks like she was ready to headbutt the doggie.

Neat link, Karen. I love the slideshow of presidential photos. My favorite
so far is the sheep from 1918.

Beautiful cat.

Somehow I don't think the writer has cats. Can you just imagine
trying to board a helicopter with a cat in your arms? Hard to tell
who would be most traumatized. Heck, I'm surprised the dogs are so
good about it.

Jake says it sounds like she had a wonderful life.

Well, no wonder she's a crabby cat! She does not look one bit happy
about that costume.

I'm glad that article printed a photo. I don't think I ever saw her
picture before. She obviously wasn't the extrovert that Socks was.

It's nice that they had a black cat. Black cats are the least likely
to be adopted from shelters, so maybe seeing someone famous and
influential with a black cat will help some people get over whatever
the issue is. I don't get it - I'm very fond of black cats myself.

That was my first thought, too. Just the commotion which is a normal
part of a Presidential trip (all the people, press shouting questions,
etc.) would scare most any cat. Sammy is probably my calmest cat, and
I wouldn't think of carrying her in my arms onto a helicopter. Way to
much chance of her deciding to break away, never to be seen again.

Not to me. She didn't like the dogs, apparently. I think she was
winding up for great big hiss & spit.

Karen, I didn't even notice that - that's hilarious!

It makes perfect sense to me that while dogs can come aboard a plane
with the humans (hopefully on leashes), a cat should be taken in a
carrier. Cats are a lot less predictable. If she ran off in a strange
place, she probably wouldn't come back when called.

Joyce - apparently quite fascinated with the presidential feline

Awwwww...She also had 3 different names, if you read the article.
The Bush family d*gs are my favorite kind of d*g, Scotties, and I had a
Scottie when I was growing up.
Thanks for the info and pix Karen.
The Obama girls get to get a d*g instead of a kitty.

Black dogs have the same adoption problem-they will be the last to be
adopted. I always assumed it was because black dogs have a tendency to look
menacing, but, I was told it is because it is hard to photograph black so
they just aren't as appealing in their photos.

I do have a hard time getting good photos of my black dog, especially with
my digital camera. Thinking back, seems that all my dogs and most of my
cats have been black or black/white. In residence now is a black chow/lab,
and black and white Dalmatian, and Sneaker the Tuxedo cat.
