Me neither. They got here a few thousand years ahead of us by crossing the
land bridge near Alaska. I don't see how that makes them more "native" than
anyone else born here.

Oh, and I think anyone born here should go through the same immigration
process (including the multi-year waiting line) as immigrants. That'll
either have the effect of reforming the process or making our citizenry a
little smarter.

Most American Indians don't like it either, for the reason you state,
anyone born here is "native American". We have always preferred
American Indian.

Probably not.

All the American Indians I've ever known have disliked it just as much
as y'all do - for precisely the reason cited above. They prefer
"American Indian" or, preferably, their nation (i.e., first choice would
be "Navajo" and second choice "American Indian," or even just "Indian").

I have decided I'm going to make a cake for St Patrick's Day. (The
pred is running rampant)

I want to make a Baileys Irish Cream Cake. I know I'm asking for
trouble if I try to make it entirely from scratch, so I bought a milk
chocolate cake mix, some butter and a lot of powdered sugar.

I figure I can replace part of the liquid in the cake with Baileys,
and also put some in a buttercream frosting.

Anyone out there that bakes a lot?

I'm looking for guesses as to how much Baileys I should put in the
cake and in the frosting?

Just be aware that the stuff is full of sugar as well.

You may want to use a dash of irish whiskey instead of Bailey's in the
cake so you don't overload on sugar (unless of course you like that sort
of thing). With the frosting, I'd say just mix more icing sugar into the
baileys until its stiff enought spread :-)

I just had a quick google of "Bailey's cake" - that should give you an
idea.

Irish cream is, IIRC, Irish whiskey, evaporated milk, sugar, vanilla &
chocolate flavouring if that helps.

I have a good bit of native american blood, and also a good bit of irish,
the combination makes me almost unable to drink whiskey, i can drink any
wine and most conacs, and some rums but good grade or cheap grade straight
whiskey makes me intolerable and some say scarey to be around, and after a
couple of shots i don't care how intolerable i am, just ask Gramby Lee

That's what makes it Irish!

(I'm part Irish on my Mom's side.)

BTW, has anyone else seen the Dave Allen Show? It was a great show from
a
couple decades back. Google around and you can find some old clips from
it.
The late Dave was a great Irish teller-of-gags.

I remembered something interesting I read back in North Carolina. While
doing studies for Alzheimers, they found that Cherokee Indians are almost
immune to Alzheimers. And the immunity seems to directly follow their
blood percentage.

Since my two oldest grandsons have a lot of Cherokee blood, its nice to
have something to offset the high diabetes risk.

Other grandmother was Irish, and grandfather nearly full blood Cherokee.
