The winking begins
[Once Amelia sees taht all is in order she asks Sundance to start playing
some traditional wedding music to let everycat know that the moment is approaching, then she walks to the surfline and stands facing the assembled cats. All of the cats present become quiet and adjust their positions on their cushions. Mosey takes his place at the right side of the wedding arch. Amelia nods her head, and Pookey and Rebecca appear at the tree line arm-in-arm. Best Mancat Pookie escorts Maidcat of Honor Rebecca to the arch. They are followed by Wascal escorting Miz Piglet, OT escorting Harri, Sammy escorting Mme. Anais, Ranger escorting Sqweex, Booker escorting WooToo, Sundance escorting Petunia, and Aed escorting Beauty. As the last couple proceeds towards the wedwink arch Ranger slips off to the side and returns to the tree line. Next the flower girlcat, Snowflake, appears from the tree line. As she walks towards the arch she sprinkles brightly colored native flowers, some not at all familiar, upon the ground. She is followed by the collar bearers, BobQat and Mimzy. As Bobqat and Mimzy step on some of the flowers some of them evaporate in poofs of nip essence, some make beautiful musical sounds, and some transform into rapidly growing nip plants. When the entire procession reaches the arch, Sundance stops playing the procession music. An island cat harpist starts playing "Here comes the bride", and all cats turn to look at the tree line. Meowy cat, lovely in her all-white moomoo, takes Ranger's paw and they proceed slowly towards the arch. They are followed by Booker and Chappey, carrying Meowie's long lacy train of seashells, pearls, fish scales and black obsidian glitter. When they reach the wedwink arch Ranger hands Meowie's paw to Mosey and returns to his place. Amelia nods to the harpist who stops playing. Amelia approaches Meowie and Mosey and takes the paws of both of them. Amelia: Dearly beloved, we are gathered here to celebrate the joining of Mosey and Meowie in consecrated bewinking. These to kitties have been members of our Community for some time, and they shown themselves to be honorable members of this Community and to be totally dedicated to each other. They have decided that they want to be companions to each other forever, and they are here today to pledge this to themselvs, to Bast, and to this community. They have endured hardships in life, as we all have. After this day they will have each other to turn to in time of need, and to share victories and achievements with. Mosey, do take this this ladycat to be your bewinked ladycat, through good times and bad, through sickness and health, devoting yourself to her completely, for the rest of your life?" Mosey: "I do!" Amelia: "Meowy, do take this this mancat to be your bewinked mancat, through good times and bad, through sickness and health, devoting yourself to him completely, for the rest of your life?" Amelia: "Collar bearers please approach" [The collar bearers come to Amelia and she takes the winking collars, then the collar bearers go take seats with the audience.] Amelia: "Mosey, repeat after me - Meowie, I take you as my wifecat. I pledge to love and honor you always, to be beside in times of need and of plenty, in times of poor health and good. I pledge to always be there to support you." [He repeats the vows.] Amelia: "Meowy, repeat after me: Mosey, I take you as my husbandcat. I pledge to love and honor you always, to be beside in times of need and of plenty, in times of poor health and good. I pledge to always be there to support you." [She repeats the vows.] Amelia: "Mosey, please place this collar around Meowie's neck." [He does.] Amelia: "Meowie, please place this collar around Mosey's neck." [She does.] Amelia: "Mosey and Meowie, by the power vested in me by this Community and under the watchful eye of Bast, I now pronounce you to be husbandcat and wifecat. The winking begins
[After watching the newlywinked walk down the aisle, everycat heads for
the reception area. Since Sundance's equipment is set up right at the edge of the reception area, he doesn't have to go very far to get the music set up. Within moments music is rolling out the speakers and cats are hitting the buffet line. Quite a few cats appear to be ready to dance. The bridecat and groomcat see this, so they take to floor. Sundance takes up his microphone: "Ok, my friends, we are ready for the newly winked couple to take their first dance together. When the second song starts, feel free to cut in to dance with the couple. Our first song will be 'Love Me Tender'." He positions the microphone next to his keyboard, adjusts his seat, then plays the intro. He sings "Love me tender, love me sweet, never let me go...". As he plays and sings the couple dance, seemingly ablivious to the world around them. Every watches them dance, and almost everycat is misty-eyed by the time the song ends. Sundance then loads a CD into the player, and "Blue Moon of Kentucky" plays next. Harri and OT are the first to break in to the newlywinked's dance. The first few songs Sundance plays are bluegrass favorites (you haven't lived until you've seen a couple of kitties dancing to "Foggy Mountain Breakdown"). The music then settles into standard Wedwink fare, and there seems to about equal numbers of cats at the buffet and on the dance floor. ] |
