Default Cat is chewing my hair at night!

I have a 19 year old tabby, who has become much sweeter and friendlier
in his old age! During the past 2 weeks, he started a new, annoying
habit: he chews my hair at night. He actually tries to pull it out!
I shoo him away, put him on the floor, etc, but he comes back for more.
I'm a walking zombie because of this. Locking him out is out of the
question, because he is a howler. Any ideas? Ski cap? Bonnet? Do
rag?

At my wits end here

Beth

Have you recently changed shampoo, conditioner, etc?

Beth. I had a tabby who did this same thing. I don't have much hair anyway
so this strange new behavior had to be addressed. It turned out to me the
stuff I was using to clean my hair. Dr. Bronners Peppermint pure castile
liquid soap. Cat LOVES the stuff.

How funny. My cat chews my hair in the morning when he wants me to get
up and feed him. I always say "I'm being groomed".
