Whiskas Senior food (now called 7+)
There is only 1 calorie difference between 7+ and the 1+ per pouch (which
I've put him back on until I found this out.) So, it would seem, as I suspected, that the cause of Boyfie's weight loss was due to stress through bullying by that black cat as medical causes are ruled out. Poor chap, how he must have worried to lose all that weight.. Anyway the big fight must have scared it off as we haven't seen it again. Overfeeding him big style has put most of his weight back on, and he is now confident enough to sit on his beloved freezer again. Overfeeding did have a downside though. He couldn't manage to hold his bowels overnight, so the bath was well used. I suspect this might become a habit. Don't ask me why he marches past a litter box literally 2 feet away from the bath, I simply don't know why he won't use one, but he won't. He says never, if he lives to be 100, will he ever use a litter box. Of course, I don't know his history. Maybe he was a feral kitten, adopted and then went AWOL because they didn't neuter him? No idea really. The good news is that I freefed him on dry plus his usual wet, my vet's advice. I was a bit worried about dry for boys, tbh, but Alison is a vet and I am not. Worked well and he seems back to almost normal weight. So he's back to usual pouches of wet, plus more dry than he used to get. No free feeding necessary. He gets up from bed at any time now, expecting a big bowl of dry will be there. There's a couple of tablespoons - he says "is that all?" ;-) I say, "Yes, otherwise you will be a fat diabetic boy soon!" Tweed He seems fine now. |
