Big fluffy wet snow flakes are falling
The cats keep running outside to play in the snow. They come inside and hug the radiator for a while, chase each other around, then zoom, back outside. -- :-) Don't let the Zombies get you!!!! |

It actually sounds like my brother, sister and me when we were children. I live in East Texas now and have not seen snow for several years. I was visiting my parents in Ohio at Christmas a number of years ago. It had snowed overnight, and I thought my cat might like to experience snow. It was beautiful, white pristine snow--no activity yet to mar the beauty of it. So, I gently set my cat outside the door. Unfortunately, I had not noticed that wind had caused drifting against the steps--and he dropped out of sight! I scrambled to reach him, but he turned around and ran right back inside before I could even reach him. :.) Those few seconds were all the snow he wanted. MaryL |

They're nice, big, safe, warm caves, with plenty of places to hide, and someone to always give them snacks. Lord Bergamot -- :-) Don't let the Zombies get you!!!! |

When i first got Ike (rb) he was 9 years old and was used to going out. One night it was snowing and wanted to go out so i figured i would teach him a lesson and let him out. He disappeared down my driveway. I was frantic. About an hour later I saw two eyes slowly coming up the driveway. He came in and had had a good time. So much for the lesson.

The cats keep running outside to play in the snow.
They come inside and hug the radiator for a while, chase each other around, then zoom, back outside. [...] Sophie (RB) used to love the snow and would get all excited when it snowed. She loved to run around in it and jump into any snow drifts. As she was long furred I used to have to thaw the fur under her stomach with my hands (didn't like the hair drier) as it would be solid ice when she came indoors, then try to dry her with a towel. Splodge and Ishmael (both RB) used to love it. I think fluffy cats realize they're designed for it. We moved here from a top floor flat, so Ishmael first met snow when he was about 7. He leapt around the garden kicking up huge flurries that glittered in the sun. I've never seen a cat having so much fun. Splodge used to like going out in it at night. I realized why when I was looking for him and noticed that what I'd thought was a pile of dark rocks was actually a cat. Random black and white patches are perfect camouflage for a beast that likes to hunt by sitting very, very still and waiting for prey to walk up within munching distance. Sitting still was something Splodge was good at. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- e m a i l : j a c k @ c a m p i n . m e . u k Jack Campin, 11 Third Street, Newtongrange, Midlothian EH22 4PU, Scotland mobile 07800 739 557 http://www.campin.me.uk Twitter: JackCampin |

Further proof (if any cat person needed it) that one cannot EVER truthfully say anything beginning with "All cats ..."! (Cats can swim if they have to, it's just that most of them prefer not to.) I keep spray bottles of water around the house to discourage mine from unacceptable behaviour, but I had one cat who would ignore the spray until he was dripping wet, if he were doing something HE wanted to do! |

It means the cat is no longer among the living. The term comes from this: (The following was taken from Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League Newsletter which reprinted it from the Akita Rescue Society of America.) THE RAINBOW BRIDGE There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water, and warm Spring weather. Those old and frail animals are young again. Those who have been maimed are made whole again. They play with each other all day. But there is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on earth. So, each day, they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up. The nose twitches, the ears are up, the eyes are staring, and this one suddenly runs from the group. You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated. -- Joy Unlimited Colorful Crocheted Critters Photos at http://www.PictureTrail.com/joy9 |
