Ummm..... Not to nit-pick, but I suspect you mean the Pachabel "Canon"
which is quite popular for such occasions. (Bach had nothing to do with
it - although the composer is more or less from the same period.)

When my great-grandmother died, my mother went with her mother to make
the arrangements. My grandmother picked out a nice, but simple coffin.
The funeral director said, "Don't you want to honor your mother by giving
her a nicer coffin?" My grandmother replied, "If I spent a lot of money
on a fancy coffin, she'd come back and haunt me!"

When my Mother passed away, almost a year ago (Aug 29 2007), my Sister
took care of all the arrangements and she was buried within 3 days. With
my disabilities, I couldn't go to say good-bye to Mom, but I still talk to
her.
Am I crazy for doing that?
I don't think so.
I still really miss her, and my Dad who passed Jan 28 2007.
They were divorced and Dad's widow lives in Colorado too.

It's hard when you lose two loved ones in the same year. I lost my husband
(February) and my Dad (October) in 1986.

Back in 2001, I lost my Mom in May and my Dad in October. Losing both of
them less than six months apart was particularly hard; I was depressed
for months afterwards. Their marriage lasted almost 57 years.

These people don't know when to quit, do they? *rolls eyes*
Just because we're over 50, they think our brain cells have gone balooey.
Glad the Attorney General got after them.
Kyla
"Granby"
What was big around here for awhile was the $50.00 to spend anyway you
want. This was in large print, in small print was to tell you that you had
just signed up for something you didn't want to or need. The attorney
General went after these folks.
"Jofirey"
"EvelynVogtGamble(Divamanque)" In Arizona, they also send very
official looking "expiration notices"
through the mail. Since my car is over ten years old, and the initial
"warranty" expired long ago, I finally called and told them to take me
off of their "sucker" list. The high-pressure salesperson at the other
end of the line STILL tried to talk me into purchasing their warranty!
He explained that the reason for the notice was that my "eligibility"
was about to expire, owing to the age of my car, and "that's when things
begin to go wrong with a vehicle, so you really NEED this warranty
protection". (Yeah, sure!)

I thought they were just targeting senior citizens in retirement
facilities, but apparently not, if you guys get them, too. (Whatever
happened to the "truth in advertising" laws?) A lot of "Medigap" type
insurance policies try to frighten seniors into "renewing" policies they
never had in the first place, too. Many of those solicitations are
printed to look like official Medicare documents, which I'm sure
deceives a lot of seniors (not just those no longer as sharp as they
were). I thought that was against the law!

I had a quick method of sorting the mail when I had my own business. The
amount of junk I got was astounding, and it was usually in triplicate.
One for the office street address, another for the PO Box and a third for
my home address. Plus extras for misspelling my name etc.

Anything that didn't have first class postage on it went straight into
the trash. I don't care how 'official' it looked.

It never once caused me a problem.

Now that its just the mail at home, Charlie gets upset with me from
throwing stuff out unopened. I just can't get through to him that
nothing important ever gets sent other than first class.

Tennessee laws may vary. I've got more than $2000 in medical bills prior
to me getting approved for Medicaid. That's what they're calling me
about. Heck, they only pay me $108.50 a month disability and my husband
has worked about 6 weeks this YEAR so far. They can friggin' wait.
We've got bigger fish to fry - like cat litter, cat food, flea stuff -

somehow.

That is sick and wrong IMO...How do they expect you to live on that meager
amount? I hope you get Food Stamps too. Geez, that is so unfair.
Purrs for everything to get sorted out sweetie.
Love ya

How awful! I'd hoped what happened to my mother was extremely unusual.
Most people own their houses, or rent with normal sorts of leases which
don't suddenly stop - the survivor seems to be able to keep going for a
while or even indefinitely so long as the rent gets paid.

When my Mom passed away last August, they had 2 days to get her apartment
cleaned out for the next tenant. She lived in a 'watched' senior unit where
they had to put a thingy on their doorknob when they went to bed, and took
it off when they got up. Mom was usually up and around at 8 am. When her
thing was still out at 11 am, they went in and checked on her and she'd had
a stroke. She went to the hospital and passed away the next day.
I did get to talk to her on the phone and told her how much I loved her.
My 2 Sisters and one of my neices got everything out and cleaned up. And my
middle Sister planned Mom's funeral, and took care of 'everything'. All in
two days time. Mom passed away on a Wed, and was buried on Friday. It's
hard to believe Mom has been gone for a year. I miss her so much, but I
still 'talk' to her.
Our Mothers, who have left us, are still watching over us. I really believe
that.

He builds houses. No one is buying or selling houses, thus no one is
building houses. We kind of really don't know what to do since it's all
he's done his whole adult life.
