I realize that with the slow traffic here, it's hard to notice if
someone hasn't been around for a few days, but it's true - I haven't
been able to access any new posts for the past 2-3 days. The news
server at sonic.net suddenly died (it seems), and I don't think they're
going to fix it. So now I'm set up at eternal-september and can read
and post again. Hooray!

Welcome back! I haven't been here in a couple or few days myself.

I'm glad you've gotten around your problem and can stay here.

Thanks! I'm noticing, though, that the traffic here is *very* light. For
all of today (it's almost 3PM here), I have only gotten 3 posts. Is that
what it's been like for everyone else? Or are you seeing more posts than
that? I can't tell whether it's just a slow day, or eternal-september
doesn't get all the posts. I mean, neither does sonic.net, but e-s seems
to be getting far fewer, if what I'm seeing here, and on other newsgroups
I read, is any indication.

It might be a good idea to respond to me by email - if I'm missing a lot
of posts, then chances are, I'll miss your response, too. Don't forget
to remove the XXX from my 'nym before sending.

That's strange. There are seven posts on my screen right now, and there were
at least half a dozen when I checked this morning. I see only unread posts,
so the seven here now aren't duplicates.

FB is getting hundreds of posts a day.

That will not make me go there. My employers told me not not to as I could
be stalked by previous *clients*
So I won't.
It's a pity really, as I would quite like to.

Although, I prefer usenet for rpca.

I'm sorry too. I haven't had any problems because of it, and neither
have millions of others going by how many people around the world
continue to use it.

RPCA is nice there also in that it has gotten quite a lot of "new"
members from people asking to invite friends who are also cat slaves and
by far they have been very sweet and nice and have added a lot to the mix.

As others have said, you can put in completely false personal
information so that nobody could possible connect your FB account with
you unless they were an expert in internet spying and in that case
they'll get you here just as, if not more easily.

I counted (I get mine via email and can count by day) and there were 251
posts yesterday and it wasn't a particularly active day. When there is
something particularly interesting or controversial we can easily get 4
or 5 times that. It's super easy for people to post pictures so I'm
seeing cats for the first time that I'd only heard about from people here.
