No more chicken
When I shop I usually pick up a chicken breast at the deli counter.
This has to stop. Amber has taken a liking to it. If I give her as much as I give Tiger, she doesn't eat her supper. I have ordered some Taurine powder to add to her canned food but I still want her to eat her cat food. No more chicken for all of us. ---MIKE--- In the White Mountains of New Hampshire (44 15' N - Elevation 1580') |

Why would they go back to cat food when they can hold out for chicken? ;-) I have said this several times before (from my vet) "Never give your cat or dog, food he would give his eye teeth for unless he is ill, otherwise you have nothing to tempt him with when he is.." I think this is sound advice. Boyfie would think his birthday and Christmas had come all at once if he got chicken breast. Kitty FC, who had CRF in her last years dined on roast chicken every day when she wouldn't eat anything else. Tweed |

Or Tiger, for that matter. Make it an occasional treat rather than something they get whenever you buy chicken. My two cents. Jill |

Kitty FC, who had CRF in her last years dined on roast chicken every day when she wouldn't eat anything else. I sometimes buy plain, cooked chicken breast pieces (no bones, no skin) to put into various things I make myself for dinner. When I'm handling the chicken, Roxy sits on the floor, looking up at me expectantly and giving her cute silent meow. And as you know, I'm a total pushover when it comes to cute kitty machinations. However, the last two times I gave her a couple of small pieces, she threw it up (along with whatever else she'd happened to eat) shortly thereafter. So, as the subject line says, "No more chicken." She can have chicken cat food, she's fine with that, but her stomach can't take the stuff I buy for myself. I don't know why. There's nothing in it but chicken. -- Joyce He spent one-third of the time telling me about the musical he was writing about raccoons, one-third of the time talking about C++, and one-third of the time demonstrating the plot of Othello using the salt and pepper shakers. -- A Treasury of the World's Worst Online Dating Stories |

I would not touch cooked chicken with a bargepole, neither for myself or Boyfie. When KFC would not eat anything else, I bought raw chicken and cooked it for her every day. Yes, I could have bought it already cooked, it would have been easier but I preferred cooking raw for her. I knew what was in it with additives. Nothing. She already had compromised kidneys, she didn't need to process anything that was not pure. |

Well, I can't be 100% sure, but I'm inclined to trust them. The stuff is called "Just Chicken." It has a pretty short shelf life. I usually have just a few days to eat it before it spoils, which makes me think there are no preservatives in it. In any case, no more for Roxy. -- Joyce I prefer to live with Feline Sapiens, thank you very much. |
