Calico cats - Bad temperament?

I have had a Tortie for 5 years. She is a great cat but a bit "vicious"
with others. The first time I took her to my vet and mentioned that
she had slapped the other cat my vet (female vet) replied, "These cats
are all bitches."

Yep. Almost all of our cats have been Siamese or half siamese. They can
be vocal and demanding, but mostly they just want attention.

Ragdolls are just dumb.

LOL. Jay Jay is a Ragdoll. I wouldn't call him dumb, just too mild to
care
He's definitely not the brightest though.

He's a real sweetheart though. I had hoped Kira would like him by now.
He's even milder than Maynard (half siamese), and that's pretty hard to
believe.


I do think the Calico thing is more gender than color. Females always
seem to be more moody. So, odds are going to be higher when you are
dealing with all females. Kira would meet the calico description, and
she's a Balinese. She even bites when she's purring. Her nickname is
Miss Attitude.

The most wonderfull kittie I've ever had was a tortie. She at first was
terrified and hated other cats. When I tried to introduce a second cat, she
attacked him enough to bleed and I had to find him another home (neighbor's kid
took him). But after I brought home a kitten, she fell in love with him on day
three and was wonderfull with other cats from then on. I at one point had 5
cats and she's sleep with all of them in a pile on the bed.

when i was younger my grandmother had a beautiful calico who HATED me when i
was born, because she was jealous that the baby was getting more attention
than her by my grandmother. once i got older she warmed up to me, but she
never really liked me a whole lot. i think it was just she didn't like little
kids. so it could possibly be true... but what cat really likes little kids?
my aunt had a tabby who was plenty mean too, i guess it just depnds on
personality.

All the calicos I have every known have always been the most loving
cats I know. My Margie has always got to have my attention and my
mother-in-law's is always on someone's lap wanting to be petted.

People seem to base their opinion on a single instance. They have a
bad experience with something and all of that type "are anti social"
or no good. Remember a person is bound to get a "bad apple"
occasionaly.

Reminds me of my dad and bother-in-law. My brother-in-law was greek
and him and my dad had an arguement and from then on my dad hated all
greeks.

Go figure!!
