Ping: Jill - weather
Jill, how are things in your area? I saw your earlier messages that
said you have not had flooding, but recent weather reports look bad. Please let us know how you are. I'm wishing the best for you. Years ago, we had 13 inches of rain in 12 hours, and the flooding was bad. Some mobile homes washed down what was normally a little creek, and a few people drowned. So, I was worried when I saw the reports of similar rainfall. MaryL |

They guestimate we've gotten about 8.8 inches (possibly 10) of rain on Dataw over the last few days. That's *nothing* compared to what the folks in Charleston and other areas have gotten. I was surprised to find Columbia, SC is flooding since it is nowhere near the coast. At the risk of sounding a tad callous, I'm thrilled with the cooler temps this storm has brought. 70F (it's 62° at the moment) is a welcome relief after months of temps in the 90's and extreme humidity. Buffy is thrilled, too. I opened the windows. She was like, "Hey, wait, those things open?!" Surprise! Yes, they open, just not when it's 90+ degrees outside. There are pet-steps by the window in the dining room. Buffy has been sitting on them sniffing the nice fresh air. Alternately she's on the back of the couch in the den where there are two open windows. And of course I've been able to open the bedroom windows which is very nice for sleeping. Jill |

Jill Great news, although it's sad for the people north of you who have so much flooding. It sounds like a good day for Buffy. MaryL |

Having lived most of my life in an area that gets an average of 10 inches of rain a year, it's impossible to imagine that Columbia and surrounding has gotten 20 inches or MORE in just a day! I feel VERY sorry for the people AND the animals that have to deal with that. |

It's pretty amazing considering how far inland Columbia is. I feel VERY sorry for the people AND the animals that have to deal with that. Same here. Jill |
