that Harri has breathing very heavily, and she hadn't been doing anything
strenuous. By this time it was getting near 4 PM, and her usual vet is
over an hour's drive away at this time of day. I did some quick research
and located a vet in nearby Redlands, and remembered that I have heard
good things about that vet.

I had the feeling that Harri needed to see the vet immediately, and that
waiting until tomorrow might not be a good idea. I loaded Harri into the
carrier and we made the fastest trip to Redlands we've ever done. The vet
looked her over and found that she has a very high temperature. When he
listened to her breathing he found that she at least has a very advanced
case of pneumonia, and might have a collapsed lung. He did mention that if
I had waited til tomorrow, I probably would have had a dead kitty.

The vet is reasonably sure that Harri will survive. She's spending the
night at the vet, getting IV fluids, antibiotics, and steroids. She's also
getting a lot of blood work done, and is getting some x-rays taken. I'll
find out about 10:00 AM tomorrow what the lab work shows.

The vet's assistant went over the vet's treatment plan before I left.
Turns out that Harri's treatment ought to cost almost exactly the amount
of my short-term disability checks for the last two weeks

Anyhow, purrs for Harri's recovery would be greatly appreciated.

Starting at once to purr for Harri. Will keep it up as long as
necessary. Do you have any idea where she may have caught the germ? MLB

Whew, that's a relief! I was very scared there for a moment.

Dan, we still have a little bit of money leftover from Tweed's
flowers, I'm sure folks wouldn't mind donating it for Harri's vet
bill. I'd be happy to add some to it. Anybody else?

Anyhow, purrs for Harri's recovery would be greatly appreciated.

Lots and lots of purrs!

I'd love to help, but money here is a bit tight - DH, who took a job with a
new company last September, only gets paid the *last Wednesday* of every
month. Months that have 5 weeks, like this one, get kinda tight toward the
end. Eight more days and I can pay bills. What money we do have is
earmarked for DH's lunches, gas for vehicles (not sure about DH's vehicle,
but mine has less than 1/8 tank - but it's got a "floater" and can get way
below empty before I run on fumes). Eight more days and I can pay bills
(thankfully, most are not due until *after* a week from tomorrow).

Purrs for Harri from just a bit north of you (Central Coast). When Harri
gets well, you're going to have to reward her and take her on a trip. Maybe
she misses the travel!

RRRRRRrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! !!!!
That's the sound of my three purring for Harri.
I hope Harri will soon be her own healthy self, again, Dan. Thank
goodness you DID take her to the vet when you did. I'm so sorry to
hear she's ill. She's a great little cat!

Not a clue. The vet hopes to know more tomorrow morning when the test
results come back.

Oh no! Our own baby Harri Roadcat can't be ill! No, we've all shared in
her little roadcat antics. She absolutely must be okay. That's an order.
Oh, and I'm sending Persia purrs and birdie chirps.

Oh dear, Dan!! Extra supply of purrs and prayers for Mister Harri Roadcat.
I do SO hope he'll be just fine and up to snuff quite soon. I am very glad
you had the intuition to make the vet run today!!! I just made a rather
large purchase and will be suffering for it a bit, so I'm just relying on
cheap sammiches for dinner for a wee bit. Care to join me?? Do ya like
BLTs???

We can share a sammich and watch Harri get well again!! {{{Dan & Harri}}}!!

Rusty is sending purrrrrrrrrrs to a fellow orange kitty to get well fast.
I am very sympathetic to your situation. Lost count of how many
times Rusty ran up big vet bills when I am not working, including one
mad dash to a 24 hr emegency vet who charged an arm and a leg.
Hang in there. Things can and will only get better. Hope you can
get some sleep before you found out the lab results tomorrow.

Winnie
