... It was as I feared. Her kidneys were too far gone. So I made the painful decision; Persia went to the bridge this afternoon. The vet gave me a little heart shaped stone "memory box" with some of her fur in it. She will be cremated and her ashes returned to me. Heartfelt thanks to all of you for the kind words, wishes, and purrs. Jill ---heartbroken I'm very, very sorry, Jill. From everything you wrote, she seemed like a truly wonderful cat. May her memories bring you some measure of comfort. Jay |

I remember that she had thyroid disease, and that she got the I131 treatment, so she didn't have to take thyroid meds twice a day. It's better for the cat, in the long run, I know. Purrs for Persia, and for you. Gandalf |

Purrs for Persia, and for you. Gandalf Thanks, Gandalf. Persia was allergic to the r/x thyroid medication. It made her all itchy and she was chewing her fur off her paws. I had to put her in one of those e-collars... she hated that! The isotope therapy really did help. I thought I was going to lose her in 2010, but I didn't. She had four more good years. She dealt with the kidney disease very well with diet and care... She was a sweet loving cat. I couldn't possibly have asked for anything more than that. Jill |

Sad that humans live so much longer than cats or dogs, but we can only hope we meet again on the other side. |

Jill, I am so very sorry for your loss. Persia was a lucky kitty to have found you, and she had a good, long life. Still I know you miss her terribly. Deepest condolences.

Purrs for Persia
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill, Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still. Where the friends of man and woman do run, When their time on earth is over and done. For here, between this world and the next, Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest. On this golden land, they wait and they play, Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day. No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness, For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness. Their limbs are restored, their health renewed, Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued. They romp through the grass, without even a care, Until one day they start, and sniff at the air. All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back, Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack. For just at that instant, their eyes have met; Together again, both person and pet. So they run to each other, these friends from long past, The time of their parting is over at last. The sadness they felt while they were apart, Has turned into joy once more in each heart. They embrace with a love that will last forever, And then, side-by-side, they cross over... together. |
