""kls"" wrote in message ... Hi everyone, I'm new to posting so please be gentle with me. We adopted Milly from the RSPCA in November and she is going to be spayed on Tuesday. She's 6 months old and (I know I am biased) she's gorgeous! I'm really worried about the op. It's like when my daughter went on her first trip from Nursery School - I'm going to be pacing about until I get the call to pick her up. The vet nurse says we have to keep her in overnight once she comes home (she hasn't been out yet so that's not a problem) and to give her a light meal. But I don't know what to expect once we get her home. Any tips to aid her comfort and recovery would be very welcome. A couple of pics are he- http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/ale.../ph//my_photos Well I picked Milly up from the Vet this afternoon and she seems fine at the moment - she went straight upstairs and under the bed but she has come out and had some food and lots of water since. The Vet gave her a painkilling injection and an antibiotic injection and says the painkiller should last for about 24 hours so I guess she might not feel as well tomorrow. They haven't given me any more painkiller for her as they say that cats don't realise they have to rest after surgery and if they don't feel discomfort they are more likely to be leaping about which isn't ideal. I have to keep her in for a week and if all is ok, she goes for a check up next Tuesday. I went shopping with my Mum today to take my mind off things and got a £40 parking ticket for my trouble!!!!! Thanks for all your advice - I feel a lot better now she is home and seems to be ok. Karen ) |

A great sign! The Vet gave her a painkilling injection and an antibiotic injection and says the painkiller should last for about 24 hours so I guess she might not feel as well tomorrow. Bet she will sleep most of the day. Poor baby. I had never heard this reason for not giving pain killer, it sounds reasonable though. Thanks for all your advice - I feel a lot better now she is home and seems to be ok. Karen ) Glad she came through it okay so far. |
