Something is very wrong
Rocky is not fluffy. He's a 20 pound, small frame tabby and TED says diet or
die. Soooo, open feeding is thing of the past. His dinner gets put up when my Lovely Bride and I leave for work (we're not dumb as stumps, we want to get some sleep). This was Day One of the ordeal and LB called me about 7PM to tell me that Rocky is telling her loudly that Something Is Very Wrong. Martha had _left_ the dinner up, ignoring all entreaties of impending doom. Lots of maows, pitteous bleats, head bumps against her knees, you get the picture. Even though the dinner is back, Rocky keeps checking after all, it might go away again. I can tell, we're going to have restless kitties from now on. Oddly though, Gazelle hasn't had much to say. |

Sounds like Molly. She pretty much ignores my existence. Unless or until the bottom of the food bowl becomes visible. Then she becomes the sweetest most affectionate cat on earth. Gentle paw taps to my face, ankle rubs the works. She is lucky I don't have to heart to do this to her on purpose. Jo |

I was late with dinner last night, and Lily did a whole routine of "Mommy-I'm-dying-of-hunger-and-feed-us-now-or-I'll-call-the-RSPCA-for-cruelty-to-babies" routine. Of course, everyone else was perfectly happy to eat the kibble that was down! Helen M -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG |

I was late with dinner last night, and Lily did a whole routine of "Mommy-I'm-dying-of-hunger-and-feed-us-now-or-I'll-call-the-RSPCA-for-cruelty-to-babies" routine. Tyche is a piggy, but she understands that bowls get empty and will be re filled. Kumani and Nocturne like to nibble throughout the day and don't like the "morning rush." But Smokey still remembers having nothing to eat, and so he's got this "food fetish." The sight of five empty food bowls sends him into screaming fits, and he NEEDS food to appear in the morning (so much for sleeping till noon). We free-feed just to avoid the eardrum trauma, because he can, and has, kept it up for hours--at the end point, starting to bite to demand food, and you can hear him in other apartments. The funny thing is when he will whine and sing to get breakfast, and you got to feed him and two bowls are still full...he just had to know there WILL be food if it was needed... --Fil |

Himself has enjoyed open feeding of Science Diet Light all his life. It's not that he gorges, it's just that he is _very_ economical in motion. Rocky most resembles one of the Kliban meatloaf cats. He has the same paint job and often says "Wacka-Wacka". Every one of the grey and white mackerel tabbies has been as sweet as anyone could ask for but Rocky is even sweeter .. We've had three male mackerel tabbies. The first two were Martha's cats. this time, he's my cat instead of LB's. When Topaz died, Martha went to the pound looking for a grey and white tabby kitten. Rocky had been to cute school and practically waved his arm outside the bars saying "take _me_". Then while Martha was making Rocky's bail, a lady came in with a small cat carrier which contained a tiny Lynx Point kitten with a broken front leg. The leg had been set and put in a cast but the pound lady played Martha beautifully: "Oh, we can't keep a kitten with a broken leg, we'll have to gas her _today_". Martha scooped up the kitten and said "No you _won't_" and that's how she came home with two kittens, much to Pooka's disgust. |

I get the same treatment from Abelard whenever he is awake and there are no shrimpies being served. His favorite thing to do to me is headbutting, from behind. He gets on the back of the sofa so he's at the right level to get at my head. |
