Okee, I letz da pootergeeneeus sekkreterrie tell u in hoominspeek:

If you are using Outlook Express (Outlook uses OE as a newsreader) you want
to do the following:

1) In the left window "Folders", click on your newsgroup name under your
news server name.
2) Click on "View"
3) Click on "Current View" and select "Hide Read Messages" in the top box. I
select "Sort by Conversation" in the bottom box. This groups together
messages with the same subject line.
4) Click on "Sort By" and I choose "Sent" in the top box to sort by the
*date sent*. In the bottom box I select "Sort Ascending". This sorts the
oldest messages to the *top* of the upper right window.

This way, all your messages are sorted by subject, and within each
conversation group, the *oldest* unread message appears at the *top* of the
list. The conversations are sorted by the *oldest* started.

TTFN, Steph

Okee, Meowmie Steffie dundun tokkin. She sez if enneewun needz more help,

If you're not reading your news through a web-based client, it will

most
likely be a setting of your newsreader program. For example, if

you're
using Thunderbird you click on the "Date" column label bar to get

the
messages arranged by date (oldest on top), then click the "Date"

label
bar again to get the messages arranged by date, newest on top.

I'm not sure how you do it with other programs like Outlook or

Outlook
Express since our Paw hates those programs and never, ever runs

them.

Amelia

Izza same in Outlook 'spress

I can surmise that you are using Google; the problem is that you now have
two"layers" between you and a Usenet server (which is where all of these
posts originate). Google is simply and first - its own news-server and uses
your browser as the next layer - and adds spam, paid adverts, and
unregulated nonsense to the list of postings; then it presents them in a
"browser-friendly" interface over which you have no control. And finally a
browser-based newsreader(Outlook Express is just an extension of Microsh*ts
Internet Exploder) then adds its own stuff to the mix.

A dedicated news-reader does just that: reads the posts and (most
important) organizes them any way *you* wish, excluding those who you don't
like and other such tasks neatly and quickly. The downside is that they
require a bit on computer know-how, but I'd be glad to help via email if
you'd like.

I like DIALOG, a newsreader available from 40tude at:
http://www.40tude.com/dialog/ at no cost. It is infinitely more powerful
than any of the browser-based newreaders particularly in the area of
filters for trolls and idiots. But there are others - just Google
"newsreaders".

Next step is a better news-server than Google. I like DFN, a free
news-server from the University of Berlin that filters out 90% of the spam
before it hits the ground. I can't remember its url, but perhaps another
kitty will meow it to you. Once you sign up, they send you an email with
instructions on how to configure your newsreader to begin receiving posts.

Hope I didn't complicate things and leave you more befuddled!
