I think it's something weird computers do. Every time I respond (to the
group) to one person's posts, I get a message saying my email to her
failed. I've never sent her an email.

Some newsreaders have an option to send an email copy of any followup
you make to the person you're responding to. (There was a time when
that might have been a useful feature). The one I'm using now can do
that if I configure it that way.
I don't use Thunderbird (what you're using) but I'd guess that if you
look in the options for posting, "email reply on followups" or something
similar will be in there, and you can just turn it off.

Did you get an email copy of this? As far as I know, it only happens
with that one person.

No, but the email address that appears in my news headers is for an
account I never look at. Spam has been piling up there for years.
Perhaps the person who gets your email copies posts with the address
they really use?

The "email address" that shows up with my messages is invalid. I wonder if
that is what is happening with Joy's problem. It sounds like her newsreader
may be set up to send email instead of just replying to the group, although
I don't know why it would show up only for one person.

Maybe. Anyway, I don't worry about it.

My replies do show up on the group. Thunderbird doesn't seem to offer a
"Reply all" option, so I don't know what's going on. However, it's no
big deal.

Thunderbird does have a Reply All option; lord knows I've been chastised
enough by the Dataw Island (where I live) listserv monitors for
accidentally selecting it.

Well, the email is bouncing back so I doubt you're driving that one
person crazy. It's just driving *you* crazy.
