Bugger off, Websell. I don't like you. You're a smarmy bitch.

well, that's not nice ;-) I don't like you either but I refrain from
insulting you.

You're a liar, too.

Don't you remember when you announced to the group that since I was a
no-one, you were going to kill file me? Quoth the meadow muffin:

I thought you might improve. I am always reluctant to killflle

I only defend myself when I am under attack. Other than that, it's
strictly cats. I have owned them most of my life - 68 years, now.

gosh, how could I NOT do that? Then another vet explained, yes, it
kills it off, but only if you keep giving chemo, because it keeps coming
back.

I didn't mention the chemo because I thought Harley would need it, I'm
aware from my own research that the best course of action is usually
surgery. I mentioned the fact that the clinic did chemo as part of the
reason I was impressed with them as it's not something the majority of
vets do. The fact that they have cancer specialists on hand is just
something I found reassuring.
I'm sorry I wasn't clearer.
I have done some research. The operations to remove the affected ear
tissue seems to be quite straightforward, but the question is will surgery
be enough or has it spread other places. I'm expecting the vet to do a
fair amount of pathology, a biopsy as well as the visual exam when we see
him wednesday morning. I'll have more details on the extent of it then
hopefully, along with his recommendations. I just don't know specifics
until then, unfortunately.
When I have that news I'll be posting another update for those who are
following along.

I think one of the simplest thing you could do would be for you to

provide the vet's name, address and phone number, and then those who
are interested could check with him as to the veracity of your
situation.

Exactly. I did this.

I only do killfiles for 3 or 4 weeks, in case the person I've Kf'd comes
back to being sensible.

You did, but don't push it.

The tips of Harley's ears are being destroyed by skin cancers, and we've
been told he will need surgery to remove the affected parts.

Early last year our other cat, Kitty, was diagnosed with stomach cancer.
She
needed surgery but sadly, she died shortly after. The vet bill we received
was just over $1000 and paying it has had a terrible effect on our
finances - ever since then we have been really struggling.

Now Harley needs treatment and it's impossible for us to afford it. We've
looked into all options in our area but virtually no help is available bar
surrendering him to a shelter and/or possibly having him euthanized. The
last thing we want is to lose a cherished family member because we can't
afford the vet bills. Harley is an old cat, but he's not elderly - he has
plenty of life and energy left and we can't imagine having to deal with
another tragedy so soon. Especially when it can be fixed.

All we can really think to do is ask for help and hope the kindness of
strangers might get us through. Any donation will help, no matter the
size.

Even if you can't donate, sharing our GoFundMe Campaign would be truly
appreciated! You can click on the 'Share' buttons on the campaign page and
it would help immensely!

Thank you so much,
Jac

I fell for this once before. I sent money for a cat with bladder cancer
whose owner had only posted once about being desperate so thought about
my
own cat and if I couldn't afford it (although I was a bit short of money
myself at the time)
I would not do it again.
1. they are scamming
2. If we've haven't seen you on this group before, you are are scamming.

Hi, I understand your skepticism, that's the nature of the internet,
unfortunately. I do feel the need to reply though.
I haven't been in this group before. I have joined a few recently and
honestly, until you mentioned it, I didn't realise how bad that would
appear, I should have thought that through a lot better and I'm kind of
kicking myself now.
I'm just desperate, and trying to get as much exposure as I can. I'm also
posting regular updates on the campaign page and social media. I know that
doesn't mean I'm not a scammer, of course.
I've noticed the spots on Harley's nose and I'm aware of a small one on his
temple too. I'll be making sure the vet looks at them, not just his ears.
The vet clinic I've decided to go to has a chemotherapy clinic and 2
oncology specialists, which was definitely a factor in choosing them.
I know there's nothing I can really say or do, because it's true, there are
scammers everywhere that know exactly what buttons to push. I just wanted to
reply so you know I didn't just 'post and run'.
Thanks for listening,
Jac

I'm afraid if you have a pet, Jac, you have to make sure you have enough
enough money for the vet's bills if you are not known to this group.
Several of us here have been helped with enormous vet's bills by each other,
but we've known each other for years on rpca (mainly) but you just can't
come here as a stranger asking for vet's bills to be paid.

I hope you manage to find the money, it's not coming from me. ~did it once

Yep, I'd agree , if yopu have a pet and don;t think you'll be able to afford a vet bill then that's what insurance is for.

Not that all insurance covers all contingencies...as I found out.
Mine would not have covered cancer!
And I still carry it.

Boyfie's bank account for the vet got totally blown when his intestines were
poking out. Luckily I got some help from the group.
I never want to rush to the vet at midnight again, I'm not supposed to
drive at night. But of course I did.
Some people might say he is not worth 800 pounds vet bill and I could get a
new cat for a lot less. I disagree about his worth, that boy is worth a
million pounds to me.
I thank everyone who contributed to his vet bill. It was a bit of a
shocker. He is more than fine now; like it never happened. I can assure
you I will never forget rushing to the vets with what I thought was a dying
cat. It's hard not to panic when your cat is disembowelled.
so I did panic, so much that I could hardly speak to the vet when I phoned
up, I could hardly breathe.
Anyway, he didnt believe me at first but I wasn't waiting for him to suspend
his disbelief.
He said "some people say intestines are out and they aren't" I said "I am
not stupid.. be there to save him the moment I get there"
He was and he did.
That's something Boyfie & myself don't want to go through again..
I wanted to rush there at 70 mph, but not a good idea Lots of police cars
about at midnight cruising around waiting for an opportunity to stop you.
Saw several but they had no excuse. They have thingies in their cars that
tell them whether I have insurance, car tax etc and providing I do (I have)
and am not speeding they take no interest. Although I think they take a
note of you "who is this driving around at midnight when they should be in
bed by now?" I'm sure they checked me out and ruled me out as a drug
dealer ;-)
I am fairly sure that that they might have have accompanied me with blue
lights had I told them. Most police like animals and if they don't have
much to do at that exact moment. Likely at midnight here when they are
parading about. They are looking for drunk drivers at midnight. I am sure
they wouldn't have minded helping
Boyfie's rush to the vet.
I like the police, I worked with them for many years, but I cannot say I
would entirely trust them.

On a very rare night when we were out at about 2am driving home from a
friend's house, DH realised we had a police car following us. They
followed us for miles and only when we turned right towards our street (we
were about 100 yards away by then) did the police car turn left. Obviously
we were going home and hadn't stolen the car or anything. Actually, it
made me feel that they do keep an eye on what's going on. Maybe even saw
us safely home.

No, they weren't seeing you safely home, they were following you to see
what you were doing at 2 a.m

Once upon a time one of my brothers was a milkman and got up at stupid o
clock to do it. He got stopped by police cars regularly on his way there
"why are you out at this time of night?"
They thought he was a burglar!
