Nothing much new here at the new house in Florida. It's running around
90-95 every day. Lots of lightning but mostly if it's going to rain it
does so at night.

I had work done on the hall tiles, which were getting a bit loose, and
the next morning the connected tiles in the kitchen literally blew up.
I'm not a happy camper but I do get to pick out a new floor for the
kitchen. Something in Laminate I think. I've had it with tile.

Baby still isn't becoming the nice indoor kitty I had hoped for. She
hides all day long, but so do all the others except for Scooter. At
night she comes out and I can sometimes get to brush her but she
doesn't seem really happy.

I just heard a thud from the general direction of the dining room.
Since the other three cats are with me on the bed, that must be Baby.
Yes, she's going crazy attacking some bug. Good for her. Jumping in
the air. I can see the bug trying to get away. I'll look for it
tomorrow morning. Normally Marlo is the waterbug removal specialist,
but if Baby feels like joining in, that's great.

I don't know if it's a waterbug. I didn't want to get close enough to
stop Baby from playing. I hope it isn't a baby lizard. They often
manage to get into the house and I usually get them outside before the
cats find them.

That's it from sunny Florida.

I don't want it to be me all the time keeping it going. The simple thing is
that there is no route to usenet now unless you already have it and usenet
groups are dying. So use it or lose it.
Facebook rspca is not for me. By the time I've noticed something it's moved
on and I cannot get back to it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I requested to be added to the fb group and was ignored. So screw 'em.

I'm sorry to hear about Harri Roadcat. I was thinking about Dan just
the other day and wondering about the infamous Roadcat. I'm sorry to
hear
she's ill.

Jill

It sounded really bad, maybe terminal. She had an x-ray which showed a
nasty lump around her kidneys. An MRI scan would cost 1,000 dollars
apparently, and not help the outcome so Dan is considering what to do
about
her future.
I will not know any more as FB has moved on.

So sad.

If Harri Roadcat has renal failure there isn't much to be done. Very sad.

Jill

Doesn't sound like renal failure, more like cancer.

My Mom went into hospital 6 weeks ago after she fell while trying to
get out of bed. She was then found to have a UTI and was kept in
hospital as it has affected her mind, as a shock so often does in the
elderly, she's 95. She's still in there but as the emergency is over
I'm only going to visit her twice a week. This isn't as hard as it
sounds as my sister is also going other days. I was spending so much
time at the hospital and at her flat sorting things a lot of things
weren't getting done. Now I have my life back and will be
participating on the group more.

At the moment I'm picking the apples from my tree (bumper crop this
year) and I've got another tree on order.

Sootie went for her annual check up and booster jab, didn't have the
new one as the vet said it wasn't really necessary. I carried her in
her carrier up the hill which takes me about 7 minutes but I'm sure
she put on 5 lbs on the way up there. The check up was fine.

Judith

I'm sorry to hear about your Mom, and fully understand about the
visiting. I just got out of the hospital myself, but I've been on both
sides of that and am fully convinced that, most of the time, such a
thing is harder on the loved ones who are not the patient.

Joy

I'm glad to hear that you're out of hospital and I hope feeling a lot
better. I don't mind going to see Mom but she doesn't really know we're
there. I've been lucky so far that I've not been in hospital but always
think that patients must look forward to getting visitors.

Judith

Thank you. Yes, you're absolutely right about visitors. Being a
hospital patient usually involves times when people are doing things to
you, and long stretches of sheer boredom. Visitors can help a lot.

Many purrs for your mom. I can certainly sympathize. My mom broke her
hip while *in* the hospital. She tried to get out of bed and walk into
the hall while they processed her paperwork.

I'm so very glad you have your sister to help out.

The first thing my greedy brother thought of when hearing about this was
suing the hospital for negligence. He was quickly disabused of that
notion.

At the moment I'm picking the apples from my tree (bumper crop this year)
and I've got another tree on order.

Apples! Hey, that sounds like a good name for a cat. Congrats on the
bumper crop.

Isn't it funny how they suddenly weigh so much more? I think it's some
sort of cat/gravity law. I'm glad to hear Sootie didn't need the extra
jab.

Jill

I swear Boyfie puts on 10lbs when he gets into his carrier to go to the vet.
I tell him "it's all for your benefit" but he disagrees. He absolutely does
not like going to vets for his injections,
but they saved his life last year, he's not a bit grateful for the vets
staying up all night to stitch his intestines back in.
worst night of my life, rushing to the vet at midnight. Police could have
stopped me "where are you going at this time of night?" but tbh, if they
did, and I'd explained, they would have blue-lighted me straight there.
Fortunately they didn't notice to hold us up.
I like the idea that the police are out and looking for burglars all night.
My brother was once a milkman and he did very early hours, 2 or 3 a.m. He
regularly got stopped by the police on his way to work. "why are you out at
this hour, what are you doing?"
We're expected to be in bed from 12-6 and if you aren't
and are out and about outside those times, the police will spot you and ask
you why.
I think it's a good idea, tbh. My brother might not agree.
He got majorly fed up by being stopped by the police in the early hours when
he was on his way to work. Luckily they finally realised he wasn't a
burglar.

It must be kind of boring waiting in a police car here for something to jump
on.

Your brother didn't have a milk truck? Something that would make it
obvious that he was working? Did he use his own car to deliver milk??

I'm here, after fighting computer crash, born new XP with no memory or
programs, transitioning Internet Service Providers (Bundled, got more speed
on yooutube and downloading and saved $50, but using email online without
newsgroups, so far. Keeping my old provider for a while as well.
I check in here almost everyday.

(Using both mine and Pit2nya's name, unless that will bother anyone here?

I found it this afternoon. It was a lizard. Quite dead and I feel bad
about it. I like those lizards. They're all over the place here. And
it's inevitable that some get in the house. I saw one in the bathroom
this morning but it crawled under a cabinet and disappeared. They
never understand that I'm just trying to get it outside where it can
hunt juicy bugs.

I've only seen one waterbug since I moved in 2 months ago and Marlo
had found it first so it was quite dead. They're still disgusting but
at least they aren't moving once they're dead.
