Default Jellicle Ball 2011 - Preparing the venue

[A plump tortie girl fiddles with her teleporter controls to make sure
everything is set properly, then steps into the 'porter. When she emerges
from the other side she sees a spectacular view. Before her is a large,
brightly lit plaza. Pathways of shiny marble, polished by the passage of
many thousands of kitty paws, leads across and around the plaza. Behind
her is a sheer wall, rising to heights she can't see. The wall curves off
to the left and the right, appearing to enclose an area of many hundreds
of acres.

Many small buildings are scattered around the area. The nearest, a large
square building with an adjacent walled yard, is built of rose quartz.
The other buildings visible are also built of highly polished stones,
some of them made of gemstones.

Near the center of the plaza is a huge pyramidal building, appearing to
be at least 50 feet tall. The broad stone steps are highly polished
granite, and there is a building shining as gold at the summit. Outside
the nearest door to the summit buildings are two huge statues of cats,
one with emerald eyes and one with ruby eyes. Large torches blaze beside
each door.

As Amelia looks around in awe, a column of Abysinnian cats wearing
breastplates of hammered silver approaches.]

Greetings, sister. We are the gate guards of the Temple of Bast. All has
been made ready for the observance of the Jellicle Ball. Our high
priestess and her acolytes are preparing themselves, the guest
accomodations have been made ready, and the feast is being prepared even
as we speak. May we escort you to the guest quarters so that you may
inspect them, and pronounce whether they are fitting?

Amelia: Yes, indeed! I am sure that all of your preparations will be more
than adequate, but I would be honored to inspect the quarters. Please
lead on.

[The column of cats turns and troops away, leading Amelia toward a large,
low building that appears to have carved out of huge amethyst crystal.]

I'm pretty sure that the cats here have arranged for a guest book table
at the foot of the Temple stairs. And since the steps look kind of steep,
they have arranged for some big, strong mancats with sedan chairs to
carry those kitties who don't want to deal with the stairs. There is also
a 'porter for those kitties would prefer it, and I'm pretty sure I heard
Harri tinkering with one of her contraptions, talking about "nokitty
should have to climb stairs unless they want to". I'm not sure what hair-
brained (or should I say Harri-brained? scheme she has cooked up, but
it should be amusing.

Piglett goes to where the cats from the temple have plans laid out. Kud u
pleeze show me where to set diz stuff up atz? They show her and she goes
with the help of O T. and sets up two long tables. They are then covered
with Red silk cloth. A large Gold Book with an embossed picture of a cat on
the front that has many pages, from past Balls is then opened to this years
ball. A very long Gold feather Quill pin is place beside it. Two
Candelabras, each supported by the figure of a gold cat with emerald eyes,
is placed on either side of the book.

she turns to Pipps, will u pleeze place ur baskets of Rainbow hankies on
either end of da tablez, you may preside over one and Lizzie and whomever u
wish kan watch ober da ofther.

She then turns to the second table also covered with Red Silk, diz gtablez
iz for memberancez for doze dat want to haff sumphin spezial here durink da
cerimonie. She places two small Gold hearts in the center. Diz one iz for
Skooter Dog and diz one iz for Sadie Dog. She then lays several Gold beeds
on the table. Deze in one for each of our famiblee dat haz gone to da
bridje. Annie cat dat wants to put sumphin here iz welkom to do so.

She sees Mosey placing a step stool in front of the table with a small ramp
on one side of it to make it easy for all the cals no matter their size.

Pipps: I will be there at the Guestbook Table a ways from you and Wascal
handing out Jellicle Ball 2011 hankies for every guest who wants one.
There is always a lot of sniffling at The Calling of Names and the Tributes.
We will leave the basket on the table and take a few hankies inside.
