Default Safe Dosage of Diphenhydramine?

Need to get my cat to sleep. Cat is 12-14lbs. A standard pill is 25mg.
What's safe to give Gus?

Thanks

Why do you need him to go to sleep?

Because he tends to the nocturnal, waking me up 2 or three times a night,
and I need to start getting up early.

Try changing his feeding time to before you go to bed. That should
make him settle down for a sleep, at least until you're in deep sleep
yourself.

This stuff is very dehydrating, you may wind up killing
your cat. Bad idea.

I have a high tolerance for most drugs but diphenhydramine (benadryl) wipes me
out, just 25 mg of it so I sure wouldn't give it to a cat. I don't think I've
heard of benadryl being given to cats. I sure wouldn't do it, you don't know
what might happen. If you do what people suggest, play with him before bed,
feed him, etc., he will eventually get more on to your schedule. Or lock him
elsewhere for the night as others said. Bad idea to experiment with drugs on a
cat.
