..but the cat *is* declawed, isn't

it?
I believe it was declawed when you got it, wasn't it?
I wonder if that is why she doesn't like newspaper...

Resident cat was declawed so I looked for second cat already declawed. I would
never declaw another cat...but, for the record, I support (front) declaw as a
matter of last resort - for others. I used newspapers 1) because I have done
so for 4 years. Before resident cat came to be, I used litter w/my then
resident cat. As time progressed, I developed very severe breathing problems. I
had a lung tumor removed .. 1/3 of my lung was removed. I am on 2 medications,
but have been tested by 4 allergists (and 3 GP's)..and I'm not allergic to
cats. I switched to newspapers and both cats (my then resident cat and new
cat/now resident cat) had no problem. This new cat must have been used to
litter. It was a trial and error 8 weeks. I tried different foods and she kept
throwing up. I took her to the vet and had an xray done. No medical problems.
Finally had luck w/Iams. I was told it was nerves...same for the
urinating/deficating on the bed. I was about to purchase some litter
guaranteed to have cats use the box. She might have been scared off by the box
- the first one was shared w/resident cat. I bought her a box for her alone.
She urinated in it once in a while. I discovered Feline Pine..a litter which
doesn't aggrevate my lung problem and she uses the box all the time, now. Of
course, the trolls here don't post any part of this..they just prefer to prey
on others..cutting & pasting words and spreading false information.

Well besides the NASTY email I got from Luvskats, thank you all for
your advice. Actually the vet I'm speaking of is a WONDERFUL vet, he
is usually wonderful and in fact the ONLY vet in my area that will
still answer calls on the weekends, holidays, evenings. The rest send
everyone to the area emergency center that is a 30 minute drive and
costs $75 just to walk in the door. He is VERY caring and loving and
has met me in the middle of a blizzard at 2am on a Sunday (well
technically Monday morning). He also calls to check on the cats
personally after he has seen them. I even ran into him at a grocery
store and he asked how my cats were doing BY NAME! I would imagine
that when I called he was sound asleep and he is ONLY human. He told
me to give her the stomach pills I had here and was coherent for a
while then started talking about fire engines.

Anyway I took her to my
cousin who is a vet in the morning anyway not him, she has her own
practice and let me post date a check. I took a stool and vomit sample
which tested negative and they said she most likey got bit by a bug or
a virus. She goes into my basement and LOVES to catch bugs. She is
doing much better now and I'm giving her the "centrine" that was
prescribed for her stomach and a liquid antibiotic. She's eating and
using the litter fine and played with me last night too.

It sounds like she is coming around. That's good news!

THANKS AGAIN
to EVERYONE for their concern and help.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone and all your KITTIES!!!

Happy new year to you too!

best,

Ava

Did you *have* to belittle and name-call?

Twit!

Get a thesauraus, Babe. You're wearing that one out.

You do it to me all the time!

You aren't a poster who's frantic about her cat and asking a valid question.
The point has whizzed over your head once again.

Sherry

And..you also spread false information!

Yup, one and the same. Same smart-alecky, caustic remarks. I didn't know
the
QOD's name was Abby Frank, though.

Sherry

Back a long time ago when she was NYWriter on AOL, she had her name in her
profile.

Queen of Declaws? Please post the proof? Obviously you falsify information
regularly and either lost or never had the ability to know what truth is.

It was years ago, it wasn't in reference to this newest cat of yours. I just
remember you yammering on about the glories of declawing.
