Rhuni update (Skinny cat)
Hi Group,
I took Rhuni to the Vet on Wednesday, and they found a lump in the area around the Lymph nodes - they're not sure what it is. Preliminary tests showed her liver and kidney functions were normal, but her red blood cell count was low. The Vet put her on Amoxycillin, Flagyl, and the vitamin supplement 'Pet tinic', as well as a/d diet food. He also decided to send her blood to the lab for more extensive tests. Yesterday, I got the lab results, which showed a slight problem with a protein level, but, most notable was that it was positive for FeLV. She had the FeLV vaccination and the boosters about a year and a half ago when Butchie got sick, so apparently the virus is still present in the home environment... not good news, indeed! She is now taking Interferon. Her appetite is good and she's drinking water. I've noticed that her stool is more firm since she started the meds... so, only time will tell, I suppose... OB |

Cats vaccinated for FeLV and FIV always show antibodies. That's one of the problems with the vaccine, according to the latest documents I've read - you can't tell if the cat is one of the 15% that get infected despite the vaccine or if the antibodies are just from getting the vaccine. Hope she is okay...
