Close Encounters of the Kitty Kind
Well, Persia just had an up-close-and-personal with Schwartzie, the
neighbor's black cat of similar size. Schwartzie uses the pine needles out back beyond our patio (and property line) as his "litterbox" when he's out. Persia spotted him through the glass door. (Funny, she turned her head when she saw what he was doing, to give him privacy?) Then Schwartzie came over to the patio to take a drink from a puddle (the sprinklers had just shut off). Persia watched. Schwartzie knew Persia was there, of course. Schwartzie oh so casually strolled over to the glass door. Persia started growling, low in her throat. Her ears went back, completely flat. Her tail puffed up three times its normal size. She hissed. Then she let out a REEEOOOWRRRRRRRR! All the while, Schwartzie just sat there, calmly gazing in. He occasionally flicked a glance at me as if to ask, "What's her problem?" LOL Persia kept up the low growling and hissing for a minute, then hunkered down by the door frame. Out of sight, out of mind, perhaps? After a few seconds she cautiously raised her head for a peek, looking for all the world like a furry soldier peering out of a foxhole! Schwartzie had moved off a couple of feet but was still there, so she growled some more. He finally figured out this wasn't exactly the warm reception he'd been hoping for and wandered off. Persia is still standing guard duty in the living room Jill |

Persia is still standing guard duty in the living room LOL! That's about exactly how Mir reacts to her brother Emil every summer when she meets him again. After a few days of this, they become friends again. Or at least she stops being so upset. -- Marina, Miranda and Caliban. In loving memory of Frank and Nikki. |

You wouldn't believe Buster's current arch-nemesis - a groundhog that likes to peek right into windows with its paws cupped around its eyes. |
