Purrs for Mike.

Tribble (RB) was difficult to pill and I had to give him Tapazole for
his thyroid problem. Then I discovered the wonders of cheese - maybe
you can find something Mike likes, and coat the pill with it (or hide
the pill in it) to make pilling easier. After coating Trib's pill with
cheese I never had another problem getting him to take his medicine.

Tapazole was the only treatment option mentioned to me for Trib's
problem, though. Radiation treatment was never mentioned.

Thank you for the purrs. Mike's difficult to pill, but it's not so
bad giving him liquid meds. We have some yummy tuna-flavored liquid
Tapazole being shipped from a compounding pharmacy, and I believe this
will make medicine time easier. Either way, I do give him some nice
stinky treats after the dose. :-)

I'm sure everything will be alright with Mike, you are such a great meowmie!
But nevertheless we send lots and lots of purrs and best wishes for Mike and
calming hugs for his worried meowmie,

Thank you, Polonca. We are certainly hoping for great things from
this treatment, but it won't be due to any greatness on my part. ;-)

Yes, it is awful. We were certain Josh would die before we could get him to
the vet. I hope you get Hobo stabilized and the only need you have for that
Karo is to make a sweet dessert.

Still getting used to different computer and new keyboard, so hang in
there with me. When we started giving QC her glucosaminechondroitin for
her arthritis, we had a rough time the first few nights. Then I
remembered some of the group members talking about using baby food as an
inducement to get cats to eat. I thought, why not use it as a treat for
taking her meds as well. While QC doesn't line up for her meds, she's
quite willing to take them now, and still loves getting her lamb or veal
baby food. Maybe you can work something of that sort into Mike's diet.
I wouldn't try it with my Mike, but you have a good chance with yours.

Thanks, Pam - that's a thought. Right now he is eating the
pounce-type treats after meds, but I may need to keep other options in
mind. He is now getting the liquid meds, which is easier than pills,
but he doesn't care for it very much. I don't blame him; the stuff
almost makes me gag and all *I* am doing is drawing it into the
syringe - he's the one who has it squirted down his throat.
**shudder**

And though new computers can be fun, getting used to a new keyboard is
the pits. I sympathize.
