Yes, some people use it as an excuse not to be around cats

Of course people use it as the reason to not be around cats. A friend of mine
will end up in the ER if she is around cats because she simply can not breathe
around them. Thats the reality...it has nothing to do with "blame".

Let's not forget the fact that cats have no idea we are claiming to be allergic
to them, thus "blaming" them...so, im really not all that concerned. Im pretty
darn sure my cats dont feel any sort of guilt from my "blaming" them for my
allergies.

You would be surprised what cats can understand. Only human arrogance says
that they can't possibly understand because the four legs and a tail.

I am more than aware of what my cats understand. For the past 5+ years, I have
provided food, shelter and love, unconditionally, regardless of my allergies.
If it makes me arrogant to say that my cat doesnt feel blamed for my allergies,
then so be it. The look of comfort in Luna's eyes is all I need to know.

Thanks anyway,
Pam

Okay...so are we supposed to blame the plants when we are allergic to
them? And also blame cat dander and cat saliva?

Or do we just accept the *fact* that we are allergic to ______ and be
done with it.

I do not *blame* anybody or anything for my allergies. They exist.

I'm also allergic to metal and many lotions and soaps. I don't get mad
at them either.

Meghan, remember this is CP you're arguing with. You can try to thoughtfully
and logically explain the issue to him, or you can go outside and eat ground
glass off the picnic table. Either one will be equally painful.
