I'm posting on behalf of a neighbor who's training her cat to eat
canned food instead of dry food. She simply won't touch canned food, I
mean the cat not my neighbor. The cat hasn't eaten anything in 3 days
-- meows a lot!

That cat needs to be fed immediately. Not eating in cats can cause fatty

liver
disease. Tell your neighbor to feed the poor cat whatever it wants for

now.
After the cat has recovered fully from not eating for 3 days, then she

might
attempt to add canned food. She can take the dry food, put it in a
cheesecloth, and use a hammer to lightly pound it until it's a powder
consistency. Then she can sprinkle it on top the canned food and then
eventually mix it in.

She's continuing to mix the wet and dry food together. The cat only
eats a little bit, but not enough I'm sure. I guess my neighbor and
her cat are playing a dangerous game of chicken. I wonder how long the
cat could last just barely eating. My neighbor believes her cat is
going to blink and would eat wet food any day now.

While I believe canned food is healthier, I don't believe in forcing a cat to
eat it to the extent of not feeding it enough food. Some cats are extremely
difficult to switch over and some just can't be. I hope for the sake of your
neighbor's cat that she starts feeding him enough food.
