I'm sorry, didn't mean to offend. I don't find the woman funny
either. I
just got this mental image of some guy in pajamas picking up dog
poop in
your back yard at 6AM. For some reason that struck me funny. I do
realize
that it was aggravating for you.

Joyce

I did misread. I'm sorry, I was still upset about this whole
episode when I read your post. Mea Culpa

I just couldn't believe she had the nerve to ring the bell *with
her dog* not on a leash and scream like a banshee! Her dog (nice
dog, BTW) practically ran into my house!

Poor dog was probably looking for a quiet sane place to stay.

Sounds like her house guest is at least considerate- not even his dog
and he cleaned up after it. She sounds like a mad woman I had to
deal
with at our old place- we had terrible problems with a group of
antisocial youths and one night one of the banged on my door and when
I opened it there was an airgunned pigeon with it's entrails hanging
out stuffed through our letterbox and while I was standing there
trying not to be sick a load of bricks were thrown at me from the
upstairs balcony. Now I got to know a name of a possible ring leader
and one night I asked a couple of local kids (some of them were okay)
if they knew where he was. The next morning our front door was
nearly
kicked in by a screaming harridan insisting her boy had nothing to do
with shooting the pigeon and shoving it through our letter box and if
I dared to say otherwise she;d send him round to rape me and
seriously
injure if not kill both of us (at least that's the gist of it between
the effing and use of the C word).....But I hadn't said I wanted to
see him about that incident...

Still it did me a favour, it was reported to the housing and became
one of the key points as to why we should be rehoused

Sounds like the idiot woman who was on the TV news a few nights ago
after her son was arrested for defacing property (caught in the act).
She insisted that "he didn't do it, and besides he wasn't the only
one!"

Poor kid never had a chance.

Who is security?

I live on an island in a gated community. Security is a phone call away.

That's good to have. Sounds like you really need them with nuts like that
around!

I sense that
there is a new problem with "renters" like OMG ..renters, baad.
if I recall correctly, until you inherited you had a rental yourself. So
stop it

Hello,

You may be in danger of assault.

Many years ago, in Bucks County, Pa, i lived across from the Heinz
Soup Heiress, and her husband. My dairygoats got out of the fence a
lot, to eat along the edge of a field of corn plastered right up
against my electric fence, causing it to short out; until i was able
to get someone to fix it. The owner of the field, was the heiress. Her
husband took me to court for the herd eating their corn. I told the
judge the corn didnot belong to them, because they had the field
rented out to someone for the season, and that the renter was the
owner of the corn. I also told the judge i got gas at the renter's gas
station and told him about the herd eating the edge of his cornfield,
and could i pay him for it. He said, no, he wanted no payment, because
they hadnot done enough damage to make it worthwhile (actually they
were only eating the leaves on the stalks). I also explained to the
judge that the heiress’s widowed , grief-stricken Peacock, who was in
love with my rooster, lived and ate on my property all day (went home
to bed at night), and their horses often wound up running around
loose on my property, endangering my little girl’s and my life, and
stamping into my flowers and garden. In other words why isnot this
whole thing a neighborly give and take instead of a court case? . . .
After returning from her long nip of the juice: The judge found me
guilty.

No. 1. The judge and heiress were Jew.
No. 2. I was a born-again Christian, who sent her children to both
Presbyterian and Mennonite Church, SundaySchool and BibleSchool.

Iam telling you this to help you to understand how and why things turn
out the way they do. [God help the Palestinians]. Also to warn you
that itis going to get much worse. Also donot interact with these
people, as theyare drunk with power, and nothing can stop them. As
more and more of them wake up to that realization, it is going to get
really horrible for us . . . ask the Palestinians . . .

I've never had children so maybe that's why I don't understand mothers who
insist to the very end, "Oh no, it couldn't have been my son!"

My former MIL was one of those. An enabler. Paid his way out of every
possible situation. Well guess what? Not every kid is a good kid. We'd
been divorced for a year and a half. And when he realized he'd lost his
meal ticket he started stalking me, harrassing me on the phone at work,
threatening me. Then he vandalized my car. That was the last straw. This
was one time his mother couldn't buy his way out of it. I eventually had
him arrested and he was tried and convicted and sentenced to 11 months and
29 days in prison. His mother couldn't buy his way out of this particular
problem.

She does sound like a psycho. Unfortunately, she sounds like all too
many
people in the way they deal with strangers, particularly neighbors. The
general strategy seems to be: "Assume the other person is an adversary
before you even have a conversation. Be sure to show them how scary you
are,
and that you are Not Someone To Be Taken Advantage Of." Whatever
happened
to civil neighborly relations? Sure, sometimes neighbors do stupid
things -
or things we think are stupid - but why not *find out first* what they
were
thinking, before going on the warpath??

whew OK, end of rant.

Joyce

I didn't go on the warpath. She was asked once before not to let her dog
run loose to crap on my lawn. So I left her a note. Then she rang my
doorbell and screamed at me. I don't find this at all amusing, nor do I
think I'm being adversarial. Shs threatened me. She brought her dog up to
my front door *not on a leash* and screamed at me. Completely irrational.

Yes, she is. _She's scared for her dog_

I wouldn't hurt her dog. All I did was leave her a note asking her to walk
her dog on a leash. How does a note make her scared for her dog?

Having a dog makes one feel very vulnerable. Catslaves have some of
the same issues but not to the same extent. I would do a long list of
people I have known or read about whose dogs were taken from them or
people tried to take their dogs from them but it is just belaboring
the point. Landlords, neighborhood association and local governments/
the cops are all threats to a dog and an irate neighbor is often the
beginning of the end.

I KNOW you wouldn't hurt her dog but, in her mind, you threaten her
dog. Yes, she is irrational but I understand why she is so upset. I
don't like her habit of letting her dog run loose and I think walking
ones dog is the ultimate way to bond with him or her, to get some good
exercise and to meet interesting neighbors in a way that won't make
their husbands too suspicious.

If she's afraid someone in an official capacity is going to remove
her dog, the very *worst* thing she can do is let it run around loose.
That's just asking for the very trouble she fears.
