I wuz tryin an tryin to kommunikate wif myne Meomie, an nuffin wuz
gettin thru! I duznt fink I haz thu hang uv this tellepafy stuff.

Sam

Sam likes company, as have his predecessors. So, like many people, I
have a top drawer in my desk left open and holding a pillow so that a
cat keeping me company while I am on the computer has a comfortable
place to rest (more comfortable, I hope, than the keyboard or my
arms/chest/shoulder etc). My cats have usually seemed to appreciate this
drawer, and often curl up there for a nap.

Last night, Sam sat upright on this drawer cushion and stared at me.
Eventually I noticed he was neither asleep nor tearing up pieces of
paper (a favourite hobby of his), so I skritched him between the ears
and said 'nice cat' and went back to what I was doing on the computer.
He kept staring. It was for all the world like he was trying to beam
some thought into my head, but if so, it wasn't working! He couldn't
want food - he's a lot more vocal and dramatic when he's convinced he's
going to starve because all but a bare handful of kibble has somehow
disappeared overnight. Maybe he wanted more paper to shred with his
teeth, but he usually finds that himself.

Eventually, he gave up on my ability to received telepathic messages,
and curled up on the drawer cushion for a nap.
