Default Island stories: Ashes

I have 4200+ messages to catch up on; purrs to all in need. I'll post a
few pieces I wrote while out on the island:

The morning after I'd arrived at the island, I took Frank's ashes and
set ut for the rosebush where I'd scattered Nikki's ashes last summer.
Frank had followed me on that trek, but no one followed me now, though
Caliban and Miranda usually followed me around while we were there.

At the bush, I said hello to Nikki and told her Frank would join her now
so she wouldn't have to be alone on the island for all those months that
we weren't there. I then opened the bag and let Frank's ashes scatter in
the light breeze. I stood there a while, thinking about my two old
friends who were now together under that bush, then I took some pictures
of the bush and the view from their final resting place. The weather was
beautiful, the sun was shining, the sea was blue, there was a nice
little wind.

As I walked back to my shed, I felt a little lighter.

On the day that I took Frank's ashes to the bush, only one rose was in
bloom on it.

When I went back a few days later, it was suddenly covered in bloom! It
was as if all the roses had come out to greet my gorgeous boy.

That it was. I have felt so much better since I took Frank's ashes to
the rosebush; light at heart, sure I did the right thing, able to move
on. I did keep a little portion of the ashes, and am still looking for a
pendant where I can keep them.

Marina, do a Google search for prayer pendant. Some of them have a
little hinged box that you could put Frank's ashes in.

I loved the greebling hunt pictures.

Awww, I'm so glad to hear that. I looked online for something you could
put his ashes in. How about a scent pendant? It's to hold perfume, so
if it's tight enough for a liquid, it should be fine for ashes.
There are some nice ones he

I think it was Nikki's way of welcoming Frank.

Oh, yes, nice ones! Thanks, Britta! I was thinking of something very
simple, like the metal capsule pendants on that site, but now I see all
these alternatives... OTOH, if I'm going to wear it for a long time, I'd
better keep it simple, so I don't look at it in ten or twenty years'
time and go, 'what was I thinking?' Hmm, have to think about this some more.

You've made a little addition to the waiting-ground by the Rainbow
Bridge. I hope that they get to play with my Feather and, especially,
my Snowball, a d*g who adored cats when she was here and must love them
still
