That sounds scary, Dan. You be careful.

Sherry

Not to worry, we always are.

When we walk in a city, we stick to areas with decent streetlights and
stay where we are easily visible from the street. And no matter where we
walk, I always carry a reliable, sturdy flashlight. Though she gets
irritated by it, whenever Harri finds a bush or hole that interests her
I light it up well with the flashlight before I let her get too close.
Now that the weather is getting warmer I've got to kepe an eye for for
snakes and things.

Nonetheless, I've always been glad the military picked the Silver State to
test their A-bombs in the 50's, when
I was a kid....and we were instructed to "curl up under our desks for
safety" (ROFL) in case of nuclear attack!
Have only been to Nevada briefly, off & on, while living
in BayArea, CA.....people are very friendly & nice, once you get away from
casino areas...but trees are kinda
scarce.....a strange landscape to a Floridian.

I thought there must be a lot of cat houses in Las Vegas. But I think
you

have
to be of a certain age to enter. In Reno, there is a school for judges,
how

to
be a judge. Imagine that. Training would-be judges in a city with the

biggest
LEGAL whore house in the country. Does make you wonder where all the
future
judges are spending their recesses from the classes. It's terrible.

Distracts
from their classes since they are so spent...

Actually, brothels are legal in Nevada but NOT in Las Vegas. There are a
a lot of them along US95 in Nye county, but the closest I've seen to Las
Vegas is at least 60 miles out. And from Reno, the closest I've seen is
at least 100 miles out (again on US95). No, I've never frequented the
places, but they are out in the middle of nowhere so they really stand
out.

BUT - here's the big point - neither Las Vegas nor Reno have ANY decent
kitty walking territory at their truck stops! You have to get well
outside town before you find stretches of empty desert appropriate for
walking bored little kittens.

So that would explain why the would-be judges were tired. Maybe the 200
miles
round-trip did them in and not the cat houses? Thanks for the corrected
info. I
knew a woman who attended this school in Reno, but not the "cat house"
obviously, and she told me how she teased the men when they came back all
pooped and pale.

Of all the places in the country to have a school for judges, in a state
like
Nevada, figures.

Duck & Cover! They were still doing that stuff when I was a kid in the
60's. And of course, every school was equipped with with those black &
yellow triangular "Bomb Shelter" signs.

Even kind of strange for a native of Catifurnia. I'm accustomed to
desert, but not to the very long, very desolate stretches of it out
here. And though the CA desert has it's share of military installations,
the unbelievable number of miles of military land along US95 still blows
the mind.

We did move to the Petro truckstop on the far north end of Las Vegas,
across the street from the speedway. There is lots of empty desert out
here, so once the sun goes down we can do a really good kitten walk again.
