Default clear discharge from eye?

Hey everyone,

My fiance and I adopted another kitty on Sunday, a little female tabby, from
the local humane society. The lady who's been fostering her was really great
and even gave us her phone number to call in case the little one didn't get
along with our tom, Maus.

Anyway, I've noticed that her left eye tends to "water". It's a clear fluid,
almost like tears, and only one of her eyes does this.

Does anyone know what this might be or what might cause this? As I
understand it, she has had her vet checkup and everything before we got her,
and checked out okay (the paperwork we were given would support this).

Thanks.

It could be allergies. I had one kitten who had one eye that would really tear
up. It'd get stuck closed if he took a nap. The vet said it was allergies. I
gave him baby allergy medication. The vet prescribed it over the counter. He
told me to give him 1/4 of a tablet. Ask your vet.

Thanks for the reply.

This one doesn't seem to cause her any trouble other than it watering
occasionally. It certainly doesn't get stuck or ooze anything.

I'll have it checked out.

Could be a blocked tear drainage path betwixt eye and nose. In that
case the clear fluid will be as almost like tears as it can be!

One of my cats has this problem; it leads to an overflow of tears. I
believe the blockage in my cat was originally caused by an allergic
reaction. The blocked duct can be flushed, though I don't know what
the success rate of the procedure is.

A vet can check easily for such a blockage.
