Default Nutro wet - shelves empty

I've gone to my local PetCo twice in the past two weeks to buy Nutro
Wet adult cat food (not the packets). I finally asked the manager why
the Nutro wet food shelves have been empty
for two weeks and found out some interesting info. Menu Foods made
the Nutro wet cat food. Only the "packets" of Nutro Wet food were
recalled. Menu Foods no longer makes any of the Nutro Wet food and
the new factory is just getting up and running. According to the
manager, it will be 3 to 4 weeks before they will have a good supply
of the wet food again. They have already used all the Nutro Wet food
that there was stored from before the food recall.

Well, you know how the kitties are about trying something new! My
Sabrina LOVES Proplan. I've used their kitten food before for fussy
kittens, and I gave her some when she was sick and not eating much.
Unfortunately after that, she wouldn't eat the Nutro unless I mixed it
with Proplan. In looking into the prices, Proplan is almost 2x the
price of Nutro, maybe because I've only seen it available in the 3 oz
cans compared to the 5.5 oz Nutro cans. I wasn't sure what else to
get, but I knew Proplan is good and had not been recalled, so I got a
couple of cases. Now I've created 6 monsters. They LOVE, LOVE, LOVE
the Proplan Chicken and Liver. I'm hoping to go back to the Nutro
when it is available, but I'm not sure the masters will switch so
easily.

Petco is the closest store to me, but I might make a trip to PetSmart
and see if they have any of the Nutro Wet in stock. Anyone else run
into a shortage of unrecalled wet food or similar problems?

If nothing else, I think you will find the food prices a little lower at
PetSmart.

Watch your Petco for sales on ProPlan. If it's anything like Petsmart,
there's
a sale on it more often than not. And a good sale, too; sometimes 2
for 1. or as low
as 49 cents a can. It really aggravates me. I wish they'd just lower
the price and
be done with it instead of being "on sale" 3 weeks out of four.
.. Then we wouldn't have to screw around with coupons and Petperks
cards and such.
