Harvey: Stuck with me again
Harvey's mother figure is off being weird in another state. Harvey doesn't like
this at all and has taken to complaining very loudly. Any ideas on how I can I make his forced seperation less traumatic? (I know, I'm being dramatic). I've been making sure to give him extra attention but he's always been not much of a cuddler. He's cranky and fat. -- Wesley: Are you not used to being given orders? Buffy: Whenever Giles sends me on a mission, he always says 'please'. And afterwards I get a cookie. |

My best ideas are to have play sessions with Harvey (as much as you can with the cranky and fat part!) on a daily basis -- try out different kinds of toys, if possible, or even just a dangly string. When he interacts with you keep some kitty treats handy. Talk to him. Lots of luck and supportive purrs from us. Christine, Omar, Oreo, Midnight, Robin & Tucker |

I AM cranky and fat and I still don't like being called those things. Second, given his fluffiness, treats might work well for you. On the other hand, he just may be the couch potato type of cat. Have you thought about asking him what his preferences are? He might just want to hang out, listen to quiet music and watch a fire in the fireplace. He might also enjoy watching you jump through a hoop instead. Third, I'd let him call the moves. He may want you to give him treats, but then he just may want to hang out with you instead. Whatever he wants, let him have it. This includes your food, bed, TV remote, car keys, and girlfriend. Speaking of which, if you have a girl friend, you may want to invite her over and let the cat hang with her. One of my cats just loves the womens and will flirt with them for hours, but doesn't want to hang with mens much. If you're married to Harvey's caregiver, don't bring any girl friends home. Cats will rat you out in a heart beat. Pam S. who knows this probably wasn't very helpful, but hopes that Harvey's caregiver will take it in the spirit meant |

I had the weird feeling you were bawling me out because
TuTu is so fat -- she looks like a footstool. She was a starving kitten when rescued and I think she made the Scarlet O'Hara pledge when she got to my house. I'll try to do better but it is hard to deny her pleading eyes. MLB It's *very* hard to put a cat on a diet. Particularly one who is a natural-born piggish eater. I had one. I finally got off his case and let him eat. He lived a very healthy life and died at 17. He was 26 lbs. Sherry |
