It may be of interest to those of you in UK, that some regional airports are
now approved for pet transportation. Among them are Bristol and Cardiff. I
stumbled upon Ward Aviation Support Tel 01275 472292 by following a link
from the Bristol Airport site, and have received a quote from them which was
less than half of what I had ben quoted elsewhere (and without the hassle of
travelling to one of the major airports).

Within Europe I have witnessed small pets transported in the cabin, but I
don't think it is possible from the UK.

You're right, it's against UK regulations. Silly if you ask me.

Is that FROM the UK to elsewhere or TO the UK?

Helen,
Sorry if I was not clear. I made enquiries about travelling FROM the UK, but
Bristol at least can accept pets back into the UK. The Airline taking pets
from Bristol or Cardiff is Brittania Airways (otherwise known as
Thomsonfly). Bristol airport UK has an animal centre that was built in 2003
