If there were an AA for cats for nip, my O T would have to join. He just
gets "loaded" on the stuff no matter how much or how little. The other two
aren't so interested.

Responding to catnip is inherited and about 70% of cats have the "Catnip
Gene"...
30% do not respond to catnip.

I did not know there was a 'gene' involved.
All 'my' kitties love the nip
Do yours?

My two cats like cat nip, but Valerian root is 10 times more
effective. Maybe a 100.
The cats do strange things.

Want to have some fun??

Bought Valerian root for sleeping. Helps somewhat. The capsules in
the bottle
give off enough smell for the cats. I don't break open the capsules.
Just
let them sniff the open top. I have broken open a capsule and used
just
a small amount left on the floor. Dunk a cat toy inside the Valerian
bottle,
and that's enough to energize the toy.

Where do you buy Valerian? My cat just ignores catnip, though my two
previous cats *REALLY* loved it.

I would like to try some, and see if my current cat enjoys it.

Thank you.

You can buy valerian root just about anywhere that sells vitamins and
minerals. Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, etc. It will be with the herbals stuff
- it's sold as a sleep aid. It's not very expensive.

If you'd like to try some before buying it, send me your mailing address
and mail you a few. dan at catfolks dot net.

Medically, valerian was administered as the extract. It tasted so bad
it used to be said that patients got better so they wouldn't have to
taste the stuff.

I didn't know that, but I am well aware of how badly the capsules stink.

But apparently the cats don't share that opinion!

The problem with cats is that they get the exact same look on their
face whether they see a moth or an axe-murderer.
