Helen gave no evidence at all to back up her assumption that the race
she despises did it. It was pure blind vicious prejudice on her part.
The fact that she decided to cap it off with an offensive epithet was
an afterthought.

Jack, I still don't see where she referred to any particular race of
people at all.

It's actually not that difficult to feel sympathy for a racist over
a loss of the cat they loved - it's a human universal - but that
does not mean their racism is any less ugly or in any way to be
excused.

To call Helen a racist makes you a liar and a bigot.

I'm beginning to wonder if J. is a closet racist himself..... Methinks he
doth protest too much.

Thats a new one on me and I want sites as I do not believe you. I don't
thnk anyone is forceably sterilizing gyspies (I think the term is romani?)

It was reported from the Czech Republic in the last couple of years.
That should give you enough to google on - "forced sterilization roma
czech" gives me 16,000 hits.

The Czech Republic is also the regime that instead of putting a memorial
on the site of the Lety extermination camp (which was run by the Czechs,
not the Nazis, and was solely for Gypsies), encouraged someone to build
a pig farm on the site.

The Museum of Gypsy Culture in Brno is well worth a visit - it has a
permanent display about the genocide, but there's a lot more about
Gypsy life in central Europe.

Would you be ethnically related to the people you have such a strong
feeling about? If so, you may want to get over it.

No. If you can visit places like Slovakia and not get angry about what
you see, there's something wrong with you.

Here's another one.

I was thinking going on holiday to Montenegro earlier this year. After
reading about that place (somewhere else, I can't find the link now)
I decided to go to Bosnia instead - I really couldn't face the idea of
being a tourist in a country that treated its minorities like that.

BOSNIA???? Not treating it's minorities like garbage? Tell that to the
Herzegovinans.
