Default Boyfie has been badly hurt

Oh my gosh, Tweed I had to write to you!! I am so sorry and I am glad he appears bright after surgery. I'm thinking of you and sending Purrs.

I rushed him to the surgery where he underwent an emergency operation. The

vet rang me during the night to say he'd survived the op but he's had to

open up a large incision down the middle of his tummy as well, to check for

internal damage, which there wasn't and also so his abdominal cavity could

be flushed out.

It's not clear how it happened. I thought he might have been attacked but

the vet thinks it is more likely that he fell somehow onto something sharp.

I phoned early this morning and the nurse's notes say he is "bright and

alert." I'm expecting a call from the vet any time so I'll know more when

I've spoken to him.

There is potential for peritonitis so please purr and pray for his recovery.

I'm sick with worry. The house is so empty without him.

Unless I am out of my mind with worry ( which I am) and forgotten, I haven't
posted this on Facebook.
My first alliance is to rpca Usenet.

Thank for your purrs, he needs them desperately.
My first thought was it was a fox or the JRT next door but when he was
under anaesthetic he was examined all over, no bruises, no bite marks, his
fur was clean i.e he hadn't been bowled over by a dog or fox. The vet says
it's the most bizarre injury he's ever seen as there's no explanation for
it and we might never know how he got it.

He isn't bright as far as I can see when I visited him this pm. He's the
least bright cat I've ever seen, but maybe "bright and alert" is a medical
term for wakes up and isn't dead yet.
I visited him, managed to get him to eat for me and no way is he coming home
yet. I will visit him tomorrow to encourage his eating again, but I prefer
to leave him there for pain relief and oral tabs.

That is awful Tweed, how dreadful for him and for you. We will send all
our purrs for the vets' skill and his complete recovery.

He has his temperature taken every few hours and they love him because "he
is so sweet about it"
I told them he wouldn't use a litter box and he hasn't. The nurse says
she'll try soil. good luck with that nursie
I'd like to bring him home but he needs the meds. They say they can teach
me to do it but what thay don't realise is how different Boyfie is at home
versue being a flatcat at the vet.

Mega purrs for, Boyfie! I find this so upsetting, I can't imagine how you
feel. :-(
--

I haven't had an accident like this *ever* I've searched the garden and
can't see how it could have happened but I don't know where he goes.
I did of course want to blame a fox or the JRTnext door but no. Boyfie was
examined he has no bruises,no bite marks. The vet says he hasn't seen an
injury like this befofe.

Boyfie is still at the vets and will remain there until Monday

Tweed, we are all sending purrs for Boyfie and for you. You may never
find out how this occurred. At least you know it wasn't from a bite or
another animal.

Purrs continue.
