Default Lovely awakening

I'm a senior citizen, and frequently wake up during the night. Because I'm
retired, my schedule isn't like that of working folks. I usually go to bed
about 1 a.m. and get up about 8:30 a.m.

I have missed being cuddled by a cat in bed ever since I lost Nanki-Poo
almost two years ago. Waffles will sometimes come to me to be petted, and
lie partially on me, but only for two or three minutes at a time, and maybe
three or four times a week. A couple of nights ago, I woke up, and Pickles
actually curled up next to me. However, Waffles immediately chased her off
the bed.

This morning about 6 a.m. I woke up, and Pickles again curled up against me.
This time, Waffles wasn't around, and she stayed there until I got up,
around 8:30. A few times she would get up, paddy-paw a little bit, then
curl back up. She purred a lot. Sometimes she groomed herself, and if I
petted her during those times, she'd groom my hand as well. I slept a lot
of that time, but I'm sure she stayed there the whole time. It was loverly!

No amount of time can erase the memory of a good cat, and no amount of
masking tape can ever totally remove his fur from your couch. - Leo Dworken

She must be fuzzy and very pleasant to cuddle after her cut.

Dot is like that too. She likes to curl up next to me under the
covers, with my hand on her chest/tummy. I sometimes don't know which
way she's facing, which is a problem - I reach between her paws to
scritch her chin, and hope I don't end up scratching her butt.

I have a very vivid memory from childhood. I was probaly 8 or 9. A cat
was sleeping at my feet in bed. In the middle of the night, I felt like
a cuddle, and turned toward the foot of the bed and hugged the cat and
started scritching her chin... and realised she wasn't laying in the
position I'd thought she was, and I was scritching her bum. Oops! Of
course I begged her pardon and scritched her in the correct place, then
went back to sleep. It's strange that I remember it so well though I
must have been half asleep all the time.

That must've been Thompson. It is difficult to tell one end from the
other when they're curled up.
