I just lost ALL of my saved posts..
I just opened RPCA, and tried to get new headers.
Instead, I lost ALL my saved posts and threads, going back to 2001. The first thread I locked and saved was my post about my Blizzard going to the Bridge, on April 10, 2001. I had locked and saved every thread about EVERY RB kitty for many years. I probably had at least 10,000 saved posts. Now they are all gone ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ^..^ "Life without cats would be only marginally worth living." -TC, and the unmercifully, relentlessly, sweet calico kitty, Kenzie. Every day is a treasure with Kenzie; I try to treat them that way. There will only be so many, and then there will never, ever, be any more. Have you tried any recovery software? There are lots of free programs out there. I can do some research and tell you which programs have worked for me. Karla |

Go to www.nonags.com click on "freeware list" (left side of page) click on "Disk Tools" listed under "Disk" scroll down to Recuva Fine Recovery Data Recovery and see if these would be useful. No nags is a very good freeware site. All their programs are clean-no adware, spyware, viruses, trojans, nothing but good code. I've been using them for years and have never had a problem. Hope this will be of some help to you. Karla oh, the program I've used is Fine Recovery |

Unfortunately, I lack the computer knowledge to use such sophisticated programs. I'm do not understand computers very well. I did manage to find the version of Agent Forte I'm using: version 1.5, Copyright 1995-97. It's a Windows 3.11 program The Help file are incomprehensible to me. Gandalf, my RPCA archives don't go back as far as yours did. However, for what it's worth, it should be possible for me to dump my archive to disk in a format that Agent can use. I'll see if I can't export an RPCA archive for you and will send it via snail mail or e-mail, whichever you prefer. Dan |

Dan Thank you, Dan If would have to be snail mail, as my E-mail won't take big files. But I haven't any idea how to get Agent to accept a new file of posts. Would it be hard to explain to me? Is there a "Repair Selected Folders" or something similar (I don't think Agent called them folders back then) under File, or maybe some kind of repair function under Action? My version dates back to 1995. There's nothing at all like you describe; nothing like 'find the 10,000 deleted posts, and the threads they were in' |

They use phrases like 'MIME-encoded', without anywhere defining what MIME is. I know it can be terribly frustrating. Most of the stuff they tell you, you don't need to know, while they leave out the stuff you do need. If you decide you'd like to try to recover your files, I could walk you through it or write it out step by step. If I could do it, believe me, you can too. And, if it doesn't work (but I've nevcr seen it fail) you haven't hurt anything, nothing is changed or damaged. All you will have lost is some time (and I know that's mighty precious too). Good luck to you, and please don't hesitate to ask if you'd like me to help. My email here works, and I'll be home all day. Doing projects, but home. I check my computer obsessively so it's easy to contact me. Karla .................................................. ............................ |

You can find all the posts you've saved there. It would be tedious, but not difficult. Just let me know if you want to know more about this option. Karla |
