No nags is a very good freeware site. All their programs are clean-no adware, spyware, viruses, trojans, nothing but good code. I've been using them for years and have never had a problem. Hope this will be of some help to you. Karla oh, the program I've used is Fine Recovery Thank you very for your advice, it is much appreciated. Unfortunately, I lack the computer knowledge to use such sophisticated programs. I'm do not understand computers very well. I check my computer obsessively so it's easy to contact me. Karla ................................................. ............................ Thank you for your very kind offer. I have to leave until sometime this evening. I will need the step by step help, unfortunately. I have plenty of time this weekend, so whenever you have the time. My E--mail is good too. This evening perhaps; I'm on Central Time, BTW Or whenever you have time on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday; I have Monday off of work. I just lost ALL of my saved posts..
If would have to be snail mail, as my E-mail won't take big files.
But I haven't any idea how to get Agent to accept a new file of posts. Would it be hard to explain to me? I'm not at all computer savvy, unfortunately. I'm not sure how to do it either; my expertise is with servers, not so much with personal workstations. But I'll see what I can learn about the process. It will probably take me a week or so to get everything together, but I'll do my best to get as many articles as I can find restored to you. Of course if Karla's idea works out we won't have to worry about it. Dan |

Lots of my folders in Outlook Express were gone and my desktop icons had rearranged themselves. I eventually found the lost messages by using "hidden files" option, but they have made themselves into dbx files which I cannot retrieve. I tried restore to the previous week but it didn't do the trick. My computer is completely clean, I run more than enough virus checkers and malware stuff so I haven't a clue why it happened. I have no advice to offer as I don't use Agent but I wished I'd taken advice about backing up to a CD or disc. In other words copy the stuff to a CD or disc. It's not difficult and anyone can advise you how to do it as you say you are not experienced on the computer. I was too complacent and lost a lot of wonderful photos and emails. They are still there in the crevices of my computer, but I cannot get them out.. Tweed |

I can only say I know a lot about dogs, chickens and child protection and will freely offer my knowledge to anyone who thinks it might help. Cats, well I am not an expert. I know a lot more since I joined the group. I knew exactly why my friend's cat moved out when her divorced son moved in with his own cat with toilet issues. There was trouble with the neighbours who had taken her in about returning her and they did not seem inclined to do so so there was a stand-off that might have been brought to court and the cat, Katy, was not allowed out. I visited my friend today and Katy was in the garden. I said "I thought she was not allowed out" Sue explained that son's cat, Cherry, had got a severe illness and had to go to the Bridge in March. Katy has never left her home since then. They just hated each other. Cherry was one of the most attractive cats I've ever seen. Like a Siamese in colour, but smaller and with a longish coat, I think they said she was a Himalayan. Beautiful girl. But it seems she never got the hang of the litterbox and was always thin. The vet thought there was something not right since birth but she did manage to live to 16, thanks to her slave Tweed |

They are still there in the crevices of my computer, but I cannot get them out.. Tweed I'm not familiar with Agent so I can't help with Gandalf's problem, but I might be able to help you get your emails back. When I left my last job I wanted to take all my personal emails with me, so I archived them as dbx files and copied them to my home computer. Once I copied them to my computer I changed the location of the message store of Outlook Express to the directory where I put the dbx files, and my entire mailbox from work showed up under Local Folders. You could try doing the same. You change the location of the message store by going to the Tools menu and selecting Options. On the Options dialog box click on the Maintenance tab. There is a button there called Store Folder. You should be able to access the messages in the dbx files by clicking the Store Folder button and changing the directory for your message store to whatever directory your old dbx files are in. Of course, before you try that I would first back up whatever messages you have accumulated in the last month, because I'm not sure if you'll have access to them once you change your store folder. You might be able to switch between the two folders where your messages are, but I'm not too sure about that. I have only ever used Outlook Express to access my backed up messages from my old work mailbox - I use Thunderbird for my personal email at home. Hope this helps. I've lost emails that were important to me to a hard drive crash before, so I know how you must have felt. OK, I can see why children might need protecting against dogs, but why would they need protection against chickens? ;-) Anyway, here's a scenario for you as regards child protection. What would you do if you knew of a foster-parent who appears to be drunk when they have a foster child in their care? Would you talk to the fostering agency (local council)? Would it make a difference if it was a one-off, or a repeated occurrence? Thanks, -- MatSav |

OK, I can see why children might need protecting against dogs, but why would they need protection against chickens? ;-) You'd know the answer to that one if you read a true story written by a friend from another newsgroup. It's about a small boy (probably about two years old) who wandered into a chicken yard wearing only an undershirt (vest if you're English). The title of the story is "The Chicken has Found a New Worm". Joy |
