(OT) A/C Still Not Repaired (long)
/*rant
I'm getting really irritated. The a/c was supposed to be repaired on Tuesday. Then I got the call... they don't have the part in their warehouse. Would I like to have it shipped from the factory overnight? At my expense, of course. Please... anything to get it fixed! So the repair date was changed to Wednesday, 9/5. Guess what? Got a phone call yesterday. The factory didn't ship the part! You have got to be kidding me. I said tell you what, you make *them* pay for the expedited shipping, it was their screw up. I shouldn't have to pay for it, nor should the service company. This system is only 2 years old; it shouldn't be broken in the first place! So they (allegedly) shipped it out yesterday. In an attempt to assist, the service company brought over a portable a/c unit yesterday to put in my bedroom. Okay, Google (or Bing or however you search) portable air conditioners. What you'll find appear to be the size of a tower PC. That's what I was expecting. Something rather compact. This thing was something out of Star Wars. Think R2D2 with a big hose sticking out of the back. The big honking kind of hose you'd associate with venting a clothes dryer. The hot air is supposed to be vented out through a window. The guy looked at the window and said, "Oh. You have THOSE kind of windows." Yes, they crank open vertically to the outside. The screens are on the inside. The screens cannot be removed because the alarm sensors are mounted in front of them. He said well, you could just stick the hose out of your bedroom door, close the door as much as possible and vent it into the dining room. I don't think so. I tried to get them to take it back but they made it sound like they'd have failed in some sort of cosmic mission if the returned with it. So they left it by my bedroom door. It wasn't turned on yet it scared the crap out of Persia. It took a lot of coaxing to get her to walk past it to get to her food and water. How about you folks just get the damn part? If you can't get one little part, how about replace the whole system? It's under warranty and it doesn't work. Stop jacking me around. \*rant Jill |

I had a friend buy a brand new washer/dryer set a few weeks ago. The store they bought it from is a nationally known store, with their own service department (they also sell their own brand - I'm sure that all the Americans here can guess which store chain I'm referring to)... They installed the set, turned them on & everything *seemed* to work fine (dryer tumbled & produced heat, washer filled & drained with no leaks). The first weekend she went to wash clothes, the washer filled, acted like it was agitating the clothes and then drained - no rinse, no spin! She called them to have it serviced under warranty, they said that the service man would be out between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm - which is fine with her since she works early am shifts at a local fast-food place, and is usually home by 10:00am. The day arrives and she gets home from work, and there's a note on her door that the service man was there at *8:30am*!!!! She gave them a piece of her mind.... but is *still* waiting for her brand-new-still-in-warranty washer to actually *work*. -- ^..^ This is Kitty. I seriously considered the kind offer of my neighbor to sleep in her guest bedroom. But Persia would have freaked out, whether I left her alone all night or tried to take her with me. Thank you, but no. John suggested I rent a hotel room. Okay, why should I have to do that? Just fix the darn thing. Anyway, it's working now. I'm having a celebratory glass of wine. Persia got some FF All is right with the world. Until the next thing breaks. LOL Jill |

I woke up to find Persia on the back of the couch looking out the window. I never even heard her get up there! So of course now I'm wide awake. This is why I don't take naps. Heh. At least it's nice and cool and I don't have to wake up early to wait for a repairman. Jill |
