you are correct, we had violette for about eight or nine years, she never
showed herself much during the day, early morning maybe, and cuddled at
night, but she would vanish if someone knocked on the door, and OMG it was
the end of the world when anyone had the nerve to come into HER house, soft

From what you've said about her, she's glad to have you, too. Her happy
space (your bedroom) probably smells most like you, and that says a
*lot* in cat speak. Much more than coming out into the living room
during the day does.
