Lots of people use the bicycle in Vancouver. Vancouver is a big city
Same here in Ottawa and the city is smaller than Vancouver. I think
Ottawa is the 4th largest city in Canada. Toronto is the largest.
What is the population in Boulder?

Pretty tiny. For some reason I didn't think Toronto was all that big.
Silly me.

According to wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boulder,_Colorado

Boulder's population as of 2000 (I'm sure it's higher by now) is
94,673 people. That's for the city proper, not the county.

Just slight smaller than Ottawa which has a
population of over 1 million. But that includes the surrounding
rural areas. There are lots of farming in the Ottawa valley.

Here's an on-topic quote about Boulder:

"People who have pets are referred to by local law as pet guardians,
not pet owners."

Interesting.

Anyway, it sounds like Canada has several extremely active cities,
which is great.

Nothing wrong with liking where you live =) I sound like that about
Boulder. (Well, actually, I live in Longmont, but anyway anywhere
near the Rockies here is pretty cool.)

Are there lots of rocks in Boulder?
I saw lots of interesting rocks in Colorado Spring.

Winter is an interesting phenomenon here. As soon as it gets dark, it
gets very cold, but during the day a typical temp would be 40 or 50F.
The sun shines so strongly even in the winter that you don't usually
need a winter coat during the day -- you'll be warm in a sweatshirt.
There are a few days of the year when it's really cold (high of 10F or
so).

Does it get very dry?

Well, I don't even know how well I understand what's going on with my
knees. But what you'll see in an X-Ray of my knees is that the
cartilage is "fuzzy" at the bottoms of the knee caps. That "fuzzy"
cartilage is probably the result of an injury I had in college, and
it's what makes my knees ache, apparently.

I think joint injuries ususally have a lingering ache.

I heard somewhere that Americans have the most expensive urine in the

world!
;

In the seventies, I ran the computer center for the Washington Reference
Laboratories, which was the largest contractor for the military drug
screening urinalysis program. Never let it be said the Army has no sense of
humor; our contract was under Project Golden Fountain.

When we built the new analysis lab, the drug enforcement people required
several feet of concrete over the drains, as some instrument outputs had
enough drugs to be worth recovering.

We also were the contractor for the District of Columbia Narcotics Treatment
Administration. Part of our contract required that we pick up the samples at
the various clinics. Word got onto the street that the white van carried
drugs.

Well, it did, but in very dilute solution. Still, it was hijacked about once
a month. My imagination fails at the facial expression of a hijacker
discovering he has captured 4,000 bottles of aging urine.

I've been told that I'll change my mind about not wanting kids since I
was 14. I'm now going to be 34 in just over a week. Still haven't
changed my mind. People are now telling me "That's ok, women are having
kids well into their 40's now, there's plenty of time for you to change
your mind!" Aaargh, shut up already, how old do I have to be before I
stop getting comments like this?!?! Surely by the time I'm 50, it will
be too late to have kids and I won't get these rude comments anymore???
I can't wait for the day...

Britta, join the crowd. I've known since age 12 that I wouldn't be
a good mommy and that I didn't want children. Thankfully, now that
I'm 46, I get less and less of the 'oh, you will love yours'.
Yeah right. Too late now, folks. Ain't gonna happen.
I have my two nieces and the world revolves around them, and that's
all I need.

New accquitnaces are surprised I have no kids at my age.
When they found out I am single, they ask why I am not married.
They said I must be too picky etc etc.
Why do I have to explain my singlehood?
Do married couples got asked why they are married to their spouses?

Oh, I've actually been told that I need to LOWER MY STANDARDS if I
ever want to find a man! Hah! I love that one.

BAD ADVICE!!!!! I DID - albeit inadvertently. What I got
was a forty-year-old man in search of a second mother, who
never did a full day's work in his life! (I would
definitely have been better off a "spinster" - I'd have had
more money to work with, and might even have had the
operatic career I wanted.)

My niece was told that many times. And ignored it. She was in her mid
thirties by the time she found him. Good looking, well off, no ex's or
kids, and seems like a really nice guy as well. She had as much to offer
as she was looking for and I'm sure she's glad she waited.
